Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro with new Tensor chip

Compared with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G in the Pixel 5, Google talks about an 80 percent improved performance. At the same time, the chip is also supposed to improve the camera’s image quality and shine with smart features like a live translation of different languages in real time.

When it comes to photos, the Tensor SoC is able to quickly and easily remove distracting people or power lines from the image thanks to Magic Eraser. Google Pixel 6 starts from 649 euros

In the mid-range, the Google Pixel 6 wants to shine with strong values. For 649 Euros you get the smartphone in one of three colors, which should be able to last the whole day with a 4,614 mAh strong battery. In terms of the display, Google relies on a 90 Hz fast AMOLED panel with a screen diagonal of 6.4 inches and a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels in the case of the Pixel 6. The fingerprint sensor is built directly into the display, while Gorilla Glass Victus is supposed to prevent scratches and increase drop resistance.

An integrated 5G modem, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are offered. Google installs an 8-megapixel selfie camera in the Pixel 6, while a dual camera is used on the back. It consists of a 50-megapixel main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 1/1.3-inch sensor and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with laser autofocus. Videos are recorded by the Google Pixel 6 in 4K at 60 FPS, while slow-motion recording is possible in 1080p at up to 240 FPS.

Google Pixel 6 Pro: Bigger, better display, stronger cameras

The top model Google Pixel 6 Pro starts at 899 euros. Here, you rely on a 6.71-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3,120 x 1,440 pixels in 19.5:9 format, as well as a frame rate of 120 Hz.

The battery is also larger than in the case of the Pixel 6 with a capacity of 5,003 mAh, and there is also 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM compared to 8 GB in the case of the smaller Pixel. The Pixel 6 Pro also has a higher number of cameras, since it is equipped with a triple camera setup, among other things. Specifically, the following hardware is installed:

• 11.1 megapixel selfie camera (f/2.2 aperture, 94° ultra-wide field of view, fixed focus)
• 50MP wide-angle camera (f/1.85, laser autofocus sensor, OIS, 82-degree field of view)
• 12-MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2, 106.5-degree field of view)
• 48-megapixel telephoto zoom camera (f/3.5, 23.5-degree field of view, 4x optical zoom)

4K videos can be recorded at up to 60 frames per second, and 1,080p slow-motion is possible at up to 240 FPS. The Google Pixel 6 Pro is also offered in three different colors.

Prices and Availability

Both the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro will be released on October 28, 2021, starting at 649 euros for the Pixel 6 with 128 GB of storage. The Pixel 6 Pro with 128 GB storage is available for 899 euros, while the Stormy Black color is also exclusively available with 256 GB storage. This combination is priced at 999 euros.
