Google wants to score with exciting and especially exclusive features for its in-house smartphone Google Pixel. One of them is the so-called Magic Eraser. This is a tool that allows you to remove strangers from your photos as if by magic. However, this is now to become available for other devices in the Pixel range, as well as other Android smartphones and even iOS devices.
Magic Eraser for Google Pixel is activated
The Google Pixel’s “magic eraser” is a popular unique selling point of the smartphone for a reason. After all, the tech company repeatedly refers to the tool, which is part of the Photos app, in its advertising for the in-house device. The heart of the Magic Eraser is an artificial intelligence. This recognizes objects and people in pictures using a sophisticated algorithm. You can then filter out, select and completely delete them from the photo. This is particularly useful if a person has crept into a photo and doesn’t belong there. Google has thus created an uncomplicated alternative to the sometimes time-consuming photo editing with tools like Photoshop or other professional software.
However, Google does not only want to activate the eraser as part of the new features. On top of that, other practical features are also supposed to make their way into the app. In addition to HDR video effects, it will now also be possible to create collages. However, every Android device owner will not benefit from the new features. Google itself namely announces them by saying “Improved Google Photos features will be available to more Pixel smartphones and Google One members on Android and iOS. Plus, Google One subscribers will get free shipping on print orders.” So there’s no getting around subscribing to the premium service or buying a Pixel.
Hardware power of the Google Pixel unnecessary?
However, the release is likely to leave a stale taste for buyers of the current Google Pixel 7 and Google Pixel 7 Pro (test). After all, it always seemed as if the Tensor chip, which is exclusive to the Pixel, made such features possible. It celebrated its premiere in Google’s Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro (test). The Magic Eraser was also used here for the first time. However, the other owners of Android and iOS devices should be very happy. After all, the features are quite practical. But which devices are supported exactly? For one, Google extends the availability to the other generations of the Google Pixel. In addition, all Android and iOS devices that have a Google One subscription are allowed to use the Magic Eraser. If this is the case, you only need the latest version of the Photos app and you are ready to go.
