After extensive leaks, US manufacturer GoPro has unveiled its new GoPro Hero 10 Black action cam in a first teaser video. The cam relies on exciting features and wants to usher in “a new era” according to the short video.
Introduction and launch this week
Thanks to numerous leaks, we actually know almost everything about the new GoPro Hero 10 Black action cam, which succeeds last year’s popular Hero 9 Black (currently on sale for €399.00).
The manufacturer hasn’t officially confirmed technical details yet, but the presentation and market launch are supposed to take place this week. More precisely, already on tomorrow, September 16, at 3:00 p.m. German time.
The teaser video definitely whets the appetite with impressive moving images, even in slow motion. Thus, GoPro at least indirectly confirms the new GP2 processor, which is to enable, among other things, 120 fps at a 4K resolution.
What the leaks reveal about the GoPro Hero 10 Black
If we believe the extensive leaks from multiple sources, the GoPro Hero 10 Black relies on a similar design as its predecessor. Technically, however, the action cam has some innovative new features.
First and foremost is the new GP2 chip, which is supposed to enable higher frame rates – specifically, 60 fps at 5.3K, 120 fps at 4K, and 240 fps at 2.7K and 1080p. HyperSmooth 4.0 is said to be a “groundbreaking” stabilization option available in all movie modes.
In terms of the image sensor, the Hero 10 Black is supposed to rely on a full 23 megapixels, which, in combination with the stronger processor, is supposed to ensure significantly higher quality with far more details. Above all, contrast and image quality in low-light conditions are said to have been improved.
A new water-repellent coating on the lens cover is supposed to prevent annoying reflections and other artifacts even more effectively, while an increased tilt angle of up to 155 degrees can be achieved in combination with the Max Lens Mod known from the predecessor (without it, it is still 132 degrees).
However, according to the leakers, the technical improvements should also result in a higher price. Thus, the experts assume that the GoPro Hero 10 Black will go on sale at an MSRP of around 539.99 euros. However, we will know more details tomorrow afternoon.
