Rockstar Games will present a so-called “GTA 6 Extended Look” on August 27, 2026. It starts at 9:00 p.m. CEST, but will be available exclusively on Netflix. If you don’t have a subscription, you’ll have to wait until 3:00 a.m. on August 28—that’s when the video will also be posted on Rockstar’s YouTube channel and the official GTA website.
TL;DR
- Premiere on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. CEST on Netflix (3:00 p.m. ET).
- Six hours later, on August 28 at 3:00 a.m. CEST, the free version will be available on YouTube and rockstargames.com.
- Rockstar has not disclosed the runtime or content. The studio has not shown any gameplay to date.
- GTA 6 will be released on November 19, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has still not been announced.
When and where the GTA 6 Extended Look will air
Rockstar has confirmed the dates via its newswire. The times in U.S. time zones are 3:00 p.m. ET for Netflix and 9:00 p.m. ET for YouTube. Converted to Central European Summer Time, the schedule looks like this:
| Platform | Date | Time (CEST) | Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Netflix | August 27, 2026 | 9:00 p.m. | Subscription required |
| YouTube (Rockstar Games) | August 28, 2026 | 3:00 a.m. | Free |
| rockstargames.com | August 28, 2026 | 3:00 a.m. | Free |
A six-hour head start for Netflix might not sound like much, but in the GTA community, those are six hours during which every detail is already being dissected on Reddit, X, and Discord servers. If you want to avoid spoilers and don’t have Netflix, you’d be better off staying off the internet during this time.
What Rockstar Is Showing—and What It Isn’t
The term “Extended Look” is deliberately vague. Rockstar isn’t saying anything about the runtime or the content. So far, there have only been two purely cinematic trailers for GTA 6; the studio has never publicly shown any actual gameplay footage. That’s exactly why the term “GTA 6 Trailer 3” has long been circulating in the community, along with hopes for the first real glimpse of gameplay.

The only thing that’s certain is what’s shown in the new announcement artwork: the two protagonists, Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval. Their story is set in the fictional state of Leonida, modeled after Florida, and, according to Netflix, revolves around a criminal duo who can only survive together.
Why the premiere is on Netflix of all places
Netflix is marketing the deal as a premiere of a kind. Brandon Riegg, Netflix’s head of nonfiction series, puts it this way on the Tudum blog: “Grand Theft Auto VI will be one of the most anticipated games in history. We’re honored that Rockstar Games is partnering with us to share this story with Netflix members first.” GTA reveals have become “cultural moments in their own right,” he adds.
This partnership isn’t new: Netflix has occasionally featured GTA titles in its in-house Games catalog, and Red Dead Redemption is still available there. Nevertheless, the arrangement isn’t met with enthusiasm everywhere. In Germany, a Netflix subscription costs between 4.99 and 19.99 euros per month, depending on the plan; a free trial month is no longer available in this country. On top of that, there’s a practical problem for media outlets and creators: Netflix streams cannot be embedded, so for the first six hours, the internet will be flooded primarily with reuploads of recorded footage.
GTA 6 is set to release on November 19, 2026; the PC version is not included
The Extended Look doesn’t change the release date: GTA 6 is coming on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A PC version has not yet been announced. A former Rockstar producer recently explained why GTA 6 is coming to PC later and why console versions traditionally take priority at Rockstar.
Anyone planning to buy a console for the launch should time their purchase carefully. Microsoft raised prices on August 1; details can be found in our article on the 2026 Xbox price increase. And when it comes to the game itself, it’s worth considering the distribution format: Our analysis of PS5 discs and PS Store prices shows that physical versions are often significantly cheaper than digital purchases.
Conclusion
The GTA 6 Extended Look is the first major marketing push in months, and Rockstar is deliberately placing it outside the usual gaming channels. For fans, this means either a Netflix subscription and tuning in at 9 p.m., or setting an alarm for 3 a.m. Rockstar has left open whether actual gameplay will be shown in the end. However, with two cinematic trailers and a release just over three months away, anything else would be a surprise.
