Himiway Rambler: New e-bike for the city announced

Himiway has presented a new e-bike for the mass market. With the Himiway Rambler, the two-wheeled electromobility expert wants to appeal primarily to commuters who might want to switch from a car to an e-bike.

Himiway Rambler could be a boon for commuters

That Himiway knows a thing or two about building very good e-bikes was recently revealed in our test of the Himiway Zebra. Now the expert has presented another two-wheeler. The Himiway Rambler is to go on sale in two different variants. On the one hand, it comes in the inexpensive basic version with a hub motor that is supposed to bring a torque of 62 Nm. Those who like it zippier can also reach for a better-equipped version with a mid-mounted motor. This then offers a very good 120 Nm. However, one value still stands in the way of the release in Europe. The e-bike’s 500 watts are still too much power for it to be legal on local roads. However, we can assume that Himiway will throttle its commuter bike accordingly. The rest of the equipment is also really impressive and makes it clear that this could be the perfect commuter bike.

We particularly like the freedom of choice when it comes to equipment. So you can choose between two different versions not only for the engine, but also for the brakes. In addition to classic mechanical disc brakes, there are also hydraulic disc brakes as an alternative. The battery hidden in the frame offers a capacity of 720 Wh and should be able to cover just under 88 km. Otherwise, you can see at first glance that the Rambler, unlike the Zebra, is not made for off-road use. The urban design with no thick tires adapts perfectly to smooth asphalt and promises comfortable rides. If it does get a bit bumpier, the suspension fork comes into play. You should also be able to fix this without any problems. The hydraulic Shimano gearbox with a choice of seven or nine gears is to ensure a smooth shifting.

Price and availability

The Himiway Rambler comes with a commendable set of features. In addition to matching front and rear lights (including brake light function), luggage racks and mudguards are also included. This is anything but a matter of course. After all, it has become almost standard for manufacturers to charge extra even for essential accessories. The best example is the Urtopia Carbon One (test), where you have to accept horrendous additional costs even for the bike stand. US customers can already order the promising e-bike for the city. Delivery is then scheduled to begin in May. Prices start at 1,299 euros for the version with hub motor. Those who want the lively mid-mounted motor, on the other hand, will have to pay at least 2,199 euros. Whether and when the e-bike will also go on sale in Germany is still uncertain at present. More information is available on the official website.
