Homey Pro (2026): twice as much RAM, same price

The Homey Pro (2026) is being launched worldwide and deliberately focuses on a key bottleneck in many smart home setups when upgrading the hardware: the RAM. The new model doubles the RAM from 2 GB to 4 GB, but remains at the familiar price of 399 euros and continues to use the proven wireless and processor platform of the previous generation. Athom is thus targeting growing installations with many apps, complex flows and a high number of devices – without leaving existing users functionally behind, as Homey Pro (2026) and Homey Pro (Early 2023) are listed as the same generation with identical software support until at least June 2031.

  • 4 GB RAM instead of 2 GB for more than 100 Homey apps, depending on complexity.
  • Price remains at 399 euros, can be ordered immediately via homey.app, wider dealer availability to follow.
  • Local operation with support for Matter, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, 433 MHz, infrared and WLAN.
  • Official support for Homey Pro (2026) and Homey Pro (Early 2023) until at least June 2031 with equivalent updates.

More RAM for larger smart homes

The core of the 2026 update is the doubling of RAM to 4 GB, while the price of the hub remains unchanged at 399 euros. RAM serves as a working memory for Homey apps, flows, live data and device processes and thus directly determines how many integrations and automations can run stably in parallel. Athom states that Homey Pro (2026) can support “well over 100” apps – the specific number depends on the complexity of the respective extensions, which creates significantly more room for large installations with many brands and services.

Technically, the platform remains otherwise unchanged: A 1.5 GHz quad-core ARMv8 processor continues to work inside, combined with 8 GB of flash memory, which was already designed for smooth execution of the Homey OS interface and automation runs in the Homey Pro (Early 2023). For many setups, it was not the CPU but the available RAM that was the limiting factor – especially when apps are given new functions and more complex integrations over the years. Athom is therefore deliberately positioning the upgrade as a capacity boost for existing architecture rather than a complete generation change, which also makes the decision easier for users of older Pro models: anyone who reaches the app limits is given a clearer argument for the changeover without having to fear disadvantages in terms of software maintenance.

Wireless standards, apps and data protection

In terms of the wireless stack, Homey Pro (2026) adopts all the interfaces of the 2023 version and offers support for Matter and Thread as well as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Bluetooth LE, 433 MHz radio, infrared and Wi-Fi. The hub thus continues to serve as a central bridge for devices from over 1,000 brands that can be connected via the Homey app platform – including numerous official partner integrations and a large community of extensions. Flows and Advanced Flows can be used to implement automations ranging from simple if-then rules to complex scenarios with multiple conditions and actions, while Homey Dashboards and Homey Energy provide visualizations for consumption and peak load analysis, for example.

The local focus remains an important aspect: Homey Pro primarily processes automation and device communication directly on the hub, which reduces latency and makes it independent of cloud services. Online functions such as remote access, the Homey App Store connection and some convenience services are still available without an additional subscription, so that the price model remains predictable in the long term. Athom, and thus indirectly LG as the parent company, promise official support for Homey Pro (2026) and Homey Pro (Early 2023) at least until June 2031, with both models being managed as a joint generation and supplied with the same functions, improvements and security updates.

Hardware, accessories and ecosystem

The Homey Pro (2026) uses a compact housing with USB-C power supply and relies internally on a combination of 1.5 GHz quad-core ARMv8 CPU, 4 GB LPDDR4 RAM and 8 GB eMMC flash memory. The configuration is therefore similar to modern embedded platforms in the Raspberry Pi environment, but is specially designed for continuous operation as a smart home center and multi-radio equipment. A wired network connection is still only possible via the separately available Homey Pro Ethernet adapter, while the WLAN takes over the connection to the home network by default.

To extend the radio coverage, the Homey Bridge can be integrated into the system in satellite mode to improve the range of Zigbee, Z-Wave, infrared and 433 MHz radio in larger apartments or houses. According to Athom, Homey Pro (2026) uses the same hardware platform and production line as its predecessor, which should bring advantages both in terms of delivery capability and the stability of the software stack. The hub is available directly from homey.app for 399 euros at launch, while wider distribution via retailers is set to follow soon according to the manufacturer; the first dealer lists for the Pro models in this price range are already visible, which plausibly underpins the price level.

Conclusion: More air for demanding setups

With the Homey Pro (2026), Athom is specifically addressing the scaling limits of modern smart homes and delivering an update that significantly increases the number of possible apps and the reserves for growing installations at no extra cost. The combination of 4 GB RAM, unchanged 1.5 GHz quad-core SoC, broad wireless stack and local focus makes the hub particularly interesting for users who value many integrations, demanding flows and long-term update security. As Homey Pro (2026) is now available for 399 euros via homey.app and its predecessor will be supported in parallel with the same functions until at least 2031, both the technical design and the positioning in the existing ecosystem seem plausible and consistent.
