Honor has unveiled the Honor Pad 20 Pro, a new premium tablet powered by a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and featuring a 12.1-inch display with a 165 Hz refresh rate. This positions the device clearly above the existing Honor Pad 20 and is intended primarily to appeal to users who do serious work on their tablets rather than just streaming. An official price has not yet been announced, but a launch in Malaysia is considered likely.

TL;DR: The Honor Pad 20 Pro combines a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 with a 3K IPS display (165 Hz, 700 nits), a 10,100-mAh battery, and a display variant marketed as the “Paperlike Edition.” It also features a PC Mode for desktop-like productivity, an optional Magic Pencil 4s stylus, and a separate Smart Bluetooth Keyboard. The price and global release have not yet been confirmed.

165-Hz Display at the Heart of the Pad 20 Pro

The most striking feature of the new tablet is its 12.1-inch IPS panel. It has a resolution of 3,000 x 1,872 pixels—equivalent to a pixel density of 292 ppi—and reaches a peak brightness of 700 nits. With a 165 Hz refresh rate, the display significantly outperforms the standard Pad 20, which operates at only 120 Hz. Honor also markets the screen as the “HONOR Eye Comfort Display,” featuring seven eye-care technologies and DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

A “Paperlike Edition” of the Pad 20 Pro is likely aimed primarily at users who want to write or sketch on the tablet using the optional Magic Pencil 4s. A matte display surface is designed to create a paper-like writing experience.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 4: Significantly More Power Than the Standard Model

While the standard Honor Pad 20 is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the Pro version features the more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. The chip is based on an octa-core design featuring one ARM Cortex-X4 prime core (up to 3.2 GHz), three Cortex-A720 performance cores, and four Cortex-A720 efficiency cores. According to Honor, the leap over the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 represents more than a doubling of performance; official figures cite a 31 percent increase in CPU performance and a 49 percent increase in GPU performance compared to the previous generation.

The chip is paired with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. Connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, which clearly sets the Pad 20 Pro apart from the entry-level model in terms of technical specifications.

Battery, Camera, and Build Quality

According to the manufacturer, the built-in 10,100-mAh battery is designed to provide up to 12 hours of video playback, 7 hours of gaming, 8 hours of note-taking, or 13 hours of reading, plus a standby time of up to 72 days. Charging is done via a wired connection at 45 watts. Honor is keeping details about the cameras under wraps: The main camera has a resolution of 13 megapixels, while the front camera for video calls has 8 megapixels.

The metal body is very slim at 6.29 millimeters and weighs 537 grams. Audio is provided by a six-speaker system with DTS:X Ultra Sound support.

Software: PC Mode, AI Memo, and Accessories

On the software side, the Honor Pad 20 Pro runs Honor’s own MagicOS. Productive work is enabled by PC Mode, which provides a desktop-like interface complete with advanced multitasking. This is complemented by AI Memo, a feature for automatic transcription and AI-powered summarization of notes and meetings.

Accessories include the previously mentioned Magic Pencil 4s stylus with low input latency, as well as a separate Smart Bluetooth Keyboard. According to a report by Lowyat.NET, the latter has also already been officially certified, which, together with the tablet itself, suggests an imminent market launch.

Price and Availability

So far, Honor has only listed the Pad 20 Pro on its Malaysian country site; specific prices or a launch date for Germany or other markets have not yet been announced. A report from Lowyat.NET also shows that a device with the model number MLA-W09 appeared in the Malaysian SIRIM database as early as July 7, 2026, suggesting that a local launch in Malaysia could be imminent. Whether and when the tablet will also be released in Europe remains to be seen. We’ll update this article as soon as Honor confirms specific prices or a release date.

Conclusion

On paper, the Honor Pad 20 Pro has a lot going for it: a noticeably more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, a high-resolution 165-Hz display, and PC Mode—software designed to turn the tablet into more than just a streaming device. Anyone who’s been eyeing a tablet with a keyboard and stylus for a while should keep an eye out for its market launch. As the successor to the Honor Pad V8 Pro, the new model shows that Honor is consistently expanding its tablet portfolio upward. Whether this will also be noticeable in Germany now depends on two things that Honor has yet to reveal: price and release date.
