Honor has officially unveiled its Robot Phone, and the name says it all: Instead of a fixed camera lens, the back features a gimbal that extends from the body like a small robotic arm. With prices starting at 9,999 yuan (equivalent to about 1,285 euros), it is also the most expensive flagship camera phone a Chinese manufacturer has ever brought to market.
Honor is thus the first manufacturer to break the 10,000-yuan mark for a classic smartphone in a standard form factor—and by a significant margin over the competition. By comparison, the Vivo X300 Ultra with comparable specs costs 7,500 yuan, and the Oppo Find X9 Ultra costs 8,000 yuan. Honor is thus charging 33 percent and 25 percent more, respectively.
Honor Robot Phone Price and Configurations
At launch, the Honor Robot Phone will be available in two configurations:

Pre-orders began on August 12, and the official launch in China is scheduled for August 18, 2026. The device was unveiled at MWC 2026 in Barcelona, though at that time neither the price nor the final release date had been announced. Honor has not yet confirmed whether or when the Honor Robot Phone will be available in Germany or Europe.
Gimbal Camera with Arri Technology: What’s Inside the 200-MP System
At the heart of the Robot Phone is the so-called 4-DoF Titanium Agile Gimbal, a mechanical structure consisting of over 100 precision parts that, according to Honor, is built in more than 60 manufacturing steps and protected by over 100 patents. According to the manufacturer, the titanium motor weighs just 2.6 grams, rotates at up to 360 degrees per second, and is said to be 65 percent smaller than comparable gimbal solutions, while offering 200 percent greater structural stability.

Mounted on the gimbal is the 200-megapixel main camera with a 1/1.28-inch sensor and an f/1.6 aperture. It’s joined by a 200-MP periscope telephoto lens with 2.7x optical zoom and a 50-MP ultra-wide-angle camera with a 122-degree field of view. Digital zoom of up to 200x is reportedly possible.

For image processing, Honor is collaborating with camera manufacturer Arri, a well-known name in the professional film industry. The Robot Phone supports ARRI LogC3, ARRI Wide Gamut 3, and the signature ARRI looks; it processes images using Honor’s proprietary Honor H1 image chip with 14-bit 4:4:4 color depth and is said to achieve a dynamic range of up to 14 stops. Videos can be recorded in 4K at 120 fps. Honor CEO James Li explained that the collaboration stems from the fact that, ultimately, good imaging is less a matter of pixel count than of precise control over light and shadow. ARRI CPO David Bermbach added that it’s not simply about more megapixels, but about giving creatives the tools to compose images with precision.
YOYO Robot Mode: The Gimbal Camera as an AI Assistant
Because the camera can move and rotate, Honor uses it for more than just traditional photos. In what’s called YOYO Robot Mode, the gimbal automatically tracks a person or subject using AI object recognition, responds to gestures without touching the display, and—according to Honor—can locate voice sources in the room to turn toward the person speaking, for example, during video calls. A YOYO Auto-Execution feature is also designed to autonomously handle multi-step tasks. Based on the information available so far, it’s not yet possible to assess how reliably this works in everyday use; independent testing will be needed after the market launch.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Battery, and Display
Under the hood is Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The 6.31-inch LTPO OLED display has a resolution of 2,640 x 1,216 pixels, features an adaptive refresh rate between 1 and 120 Hz, and is said to reach peak brightness of up to 6,800 nits. Despite the complex camera mechanism, the device’s 248-gram weight and 9.59-millimeter thickness are not out of the ordinary.
The silicon-carbon battery has a capacity of 7,060 mAh and supports 120-watt wired charging or 50-watt wireless charging. The metal body with rounded edges is additionally protected against drops and scratches by Honor’s NanoCrystal Shield.
Availability: When will the Honor Robot Phone be available in Germany?
So far, the Honor Robot Phone remains a product exclusive to China. Pre-orders and the launch date apply exclusively to the Chinese market; while a global product page already exists, specific details regarding price or a release date for Europe are still missing. If Honor follows the pattern of its previous flagship models, a launch in this country would realistically be in the second half of 2026 at the earliest; however, nothing has been confirmed yet.
