The HOVERAir VERSA is a pocket-sized camera with a 3-axis gimbal that transforms into an autonomous flying camera in seconds by attaching propellers. A single device thus covers handheld shots, follow shots, and aerial perspectives. Manufacturer Zero Zero Robotics first unveiled the VERSA on July 29, 2026, as a teaser. Exact technical specifications, price, and availability remain to be announced.

Handheld Camera and Drone in One Package

The real trick lies in its modular design. When held in the hand, the VERSA functions as a classic gimbal camcorder for stable selfies, POV clips, and everyday footage. If you need a higher vantage point, simply snap on the propeller modules—called “Flight Wings”—turn it on, and let the device take off. HOVERAir doesn’t require a controller or piloting skills—the camera takes off from your hand and lands back there as well. As with previous models, the propellers are housed in a closed cage, which makes it safer to use around people.

AI Tracking, 3D Worlds, and Low-Light Imaging

In flight, an AI tracking engine handles tracking, and according to the manufacturer, there are more than ten automatic flight modes. A new feature is AI-assisted image composition, which analyzes the surroundings and suggests an appropriate camera position. An image processor is also designed to ensure a high dynamic range and clean shots in low-light conditions. HOVERAir calls its most striking feature “3D Worlds”: The camera flies a precise 360-degree pattern and then reconstructs the scene in three dimensions, allowing the subject to be viewed from any angle later on.

From the Passport to the VERSA

Zero Zero Robotics practically invented the self-flying camera category in 2016 with the Hover Camera Passport. In 2023, the HOVERAir X1—weighing just 125 grams—followed, and in 2024, the X1 Pro and Promax were introduced, featuring up to 8K recording and a follow speed of 42 km/h. In 2025, the AQUA introduced the first waterproof model with IP67 rating and the ability to take off directly from the water. The VERSA is the next step, combining handheld stabilization and autonomous flight in a single product for the first time.

More Information

Price and availability still to be announced

HOVERAir has not yet provided any concrete figures. Neither the sensor size, battery life, weight, nor starting price have been confirmed, nor has a launch date. The company has merely announced that it will provide further details “soon.” It will be particularly interesting to see how the VERSA stacks up against established pocket gimbals like the DJI Osmo Pocket. As soon as HOVERAir releases specific specifications and a price, we’ll provide the details.

More information is available on the official VERSA product page.
