HP Envy x360 15.6: Convertible comes with current AMD and Intel CPUs, RTX 2050 and OLED

And yet another new 2-in-1 convertible from HP. This model is called HP Envy x360 15.6 and has a much wider range of CPUs. You can choose between current Intel Alder Lake or AMD processors and even add a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 laptop GPU. The convertible is also optionally available with an OLED panel.

The HP Envy x360 15.6 in detail

With its 15.6-inch display, the HP Envy x360 15.6 can probably only be used in tablet mode to a limited extent, but that is possible with the new convertible. There are a total of three different display variants to choose from, either with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) or QHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels) and optionally as an OLED panel.

They offer a maximum brightness of up to 500 nits and, depending on the features, a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Of course, they can also be operated via touchscreen and stylus.

Regarding the CPU, current AMD Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 chips, as well as Intel Alder Lake processors from the Core i5-1235U up to the Intel Core i7-1260P are available. In addition to an onboard graphics solution, they can also be combined with a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 laptop GPU with 4 GB GDDR6 VRAM. A choice of 8 GB or 16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM and 256 GB to 1 TB NVMe M.2 SSD storage is offered.

Good features, small battery

The manufacturer specifies the battery capacity of the HP Envy x360 15.6 with 51 watt hours, which seems quite tight. Otherwise, the features are impressive. HP’s True Vision 5MP webcam with privacy shutter and an additional IR camera, stereo speakers from Bang & Olufsen, two USB-C ports including Thunderbolt 4, two USB-A ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and an SD card reader are offered.

The convertible communicates wirelessly via Wi-Fi 6 (MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921) or Wi-Fi 6E (Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211), as well as via Bluetooth 5.2.

Price and Availability

The HP Envy x360 15.6 will also initially launch in the US, where it is available now. It starts at an MSRP of $849.99 with AMD CPUs, or from $899.99 with Intel processors. Delivery is scheduled for the end of June 2022. Information about the launch and prices for the German market are not yet available.
