HP Spectre x360 16: Convertible comes with 3K display and Intel Arc GPU

Are the other new convertibles from HP too small and not powerful enough for you? Fortunately, the manufacturer has a solution for that as well. It is called HP Spectre x360 16 and relies on a 16-inch touchscreen with a 3K resolution. Oh, and a dedicated Intel Arc GPU is also included.

HP Spectre x360 16: The most powerful convertible from HP

Those who want to acquire a high-quality and classy convertible, but don’t want to completely bury their gaming ambitions, should take a closer look at the HP Spectre x360 16. It is by far not as compact and light as its smaller brothers and might be a bit too bulky in tablet mode, but the convertible is definitely exciting.

As the name suggests, HP relies on a 16-inch display. The standard version has a resolution of 3072 x 1920 pixels and a brightness of 400 nits. However, the x360 16 is also available with a high-quality OLED panel that has a higher resolution of 3840 x 2400 pixels and a brightness of 500 nits when displaying HDR content.

The 360-degree hinge naturally allows use in notebook, tablet or tent mode, and the touchscreens can also be operated and written on via stylus. Current Intel Alder Lake processors are used as the CPU. Namely either an Intel Core i5-1260P or the faster Intel Core i7-12700H. HP provides them with 16 GB or 32 GB DDR4 working memory and an up to 2 TB NVMe PCIe4.0 SSD.

With Intel Arc GPU and strong battery

An Intel Arc Mobile GPU is used in the HP Spectre x360 16 for displaying content. Specifically, the Intel Arc A370M is one of the weakest models of the new chips, but thanks to 8 Xe cores, 1,024 shaders and 4GB GDDR6 VRAM, the performance should still be significantly higher than an internal graphics solution. The GPU should be sufficient for one or two rounds of Fortnite and the like.

The battery of the convertible has a capacity of 83 watt hours and is charged quickly with up to 135 watts. However, HP does not provide details about the runtime. But it does about the rest of the equipment.

This includes a fingerprint sensor, two webcams (one of which is responsible for Windows Hello login as an IR camera) including a privacy shutter, as well as all sorts of ports. Two USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 4, one USB-A with up to 10 Gbit/s, a 3.5 mm jack, a microSD card reader and a real HDMI 2.1 port are available.

Price and Availability

The HP Spectre x360 16 can already be ordered, at least in the U.S., directly from the manufacturer and is scheduled to begin shipping on June 17. It starts at an MSRP of 1,649.99 US dollars, which corresponds to around 1,562 euros.

Core i7 CPU and Intel Arc GPU will cost an additional $220 as an upgrade. Doubling the working memory to 32 GB also costs another 160 dollars extra. The HP Rechargeable MPP2.0 Tilt Pen stylus is also included. It is not yet known when the exciting convertible will be available in Germany.
