HP has presented a new 4K monitor. The HP Z32k G3 is not only supposed to offer high contrasts due to deep black thanks to IPS Black. On top of that, it resolves at 4K and offers Thunderbolt 4.
Latest generation IPS panel
The HP Z32k G3 comes with a high-performance IPS panel. This comes from LG and is supposed to be able to offer a contrast ratio of 2000:1 – surprisingly high compared to conventional IPS panels. Thus, LG is really broadly positioned just in time for the IFA. So the electronics company from South Korea also supplies the bendable Corsair XENEON FLEX 45WQHD240 with a suitable panel. But the HP Z32k G3 does not only want to score with its high-contrast IPS panel. It also comes with a resolution in 4K UHD (3,840 × 2,160 pixels) as well as a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Thanks to a 32-inch size, it should be perfect for the home desk. If that’s too small, you might want to take a closer look at the LG G2 OLED evo Gallery Edition with 97 inches, which was also presented at IFA. HP also promises a lot in terms of color reproduction. For example, the monitor is supposed to be able to cover the sRGB color space by 100 percent and the DCI-P3 color space by 98 percent. While the black values should be high thanks to IPS-Black, the backlight is probably more in line with the usual standard. DisplayHDR-400 is supposed to be used here.
Thunderbolt 4 offers many features
Many office users will be pleased that HP relies on Thunderbolt 4. The modern interface offers several features that you do not want to do without at the workplace. In addition to blazing-fast data transfer, the standard also benefits from a power supply for external devices.
In the HP Z32k G3, this is said to be up to 100 watts strong, which, for example, enables image transfer and simultaneous charging of a notebook via USB-C port. Furthermore, the monitor offers four USB-A ports as well as another USB-C port, which still provides 15 watts of output power.
Price and availability
The HP Z32k G3 is supposed to go on sale before the end of this year. To be more precise, it should be ready in November. Unfortunately, it is still unknown how expensive HP’s promising 32-incher will be.
