Huawei Enjoy 50: Mid-range smartphone comes with 6,000 mAh battery

With the Huawei Enjoy 50, the Chinese manufacturer has presented a new mid-range smartphone to the public. It relies on a 6,000 mAh battery and a 6.75-inch IPS display at an extremely affordable price.

With the Huawei Enjoy 50, the manufacturer once again attacks the smartphone mid-range and combines some exciting components with some rather unimpressive specifications.

On the plus side, the nine-millimeter-thick and 199-gram device has a 6.75-inch IPS display that only has a resolution of 1600 x 720 pixels. Thus, the pixel density is still a good 259 ppi.

The in-house HiSilicon Kirin 710A is used as the SoC, which combines eight CPU cores. Four ARM Cortex-A73 performance cores with a clock rate of 2.0 GHz are supported by four Cortex-A53 efficiency cores with a clock rate of 1.7 GHz. Depending on the features, the device also has 6 GB or 8 GB of working memory and 128 or 256 GB of system memory. The latter can be expanded by a maximum of 512 GB via microSD card.

5G, on the other hand, is unfortunately not supported by the Enjoy 50. The smartphone also only supports the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi band, while NFC is conspicuous by its absence. However, there is again a 3.5 mm jack for connecting headphones.

Strong battery, mediocre cameras

The Huawei Enjoy 50 relies on sheer size and comes with a capacity of 6,000 mAh. It is only charged via USB Type-C and with a charging speed of 22.5 watts. Thus, the battery is supposed to be charged for three hours in 10 minutes.

The camera features are not very impressive. It consists of a 13-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture) and a 2 MP depth-of-field camera (f/2.4 aperture) on the back. Autofocus and a sixx digital zoom are offered. Besides normal photos, a portrait mode, a professional mode and a panorama mode are available.

For selfies, an 8 MP front camera with an aperture of f/2.0 is used, which finds its place in a centrally placed waterdrop. The fingerprint sensor is found in the power button on the side, otherwise HarmonyOS 2.0 is used as the operating system.

Price and availability

The Huawei Enjoy 50 is offered in three colors: Blue, White and Black. It will initially be launched exclusively in China at Vmall at prices starting at 1,449 yuan (equivalent to just under 203 euros). If and when the device will make it to Germany is uncertain.
