Huawei FreeBuds 4: Bluetooth in-ears with ANC presented

Huawei has introduced the FreeBuds 4, the latest generation of its wireless in-ear headphones. Thanks to the 14.3 mm LCP driver, the competitor product to AirPods and the like is not only supposed to guarantee a rich neutral sound. Other features such as active noise cancellation (ANC) and the special “open fit design” round off the overall positive picture so far.

Benefits for Huawei smartphone owners

As with Apple’s AirPods, FreeBuds owners should also be able to enjoy a key advantage if they choose to use them with an in-house Huawei smartphone. For example, the automatic pop-up function is used here, which automatically establishes a connection as soon as the lid is opened. Thanks to Bluetooth 5.2, a stable connection should also be possible with other devices. The option to pair two devices in parallel also sounds particularly practical. Thus, you can easily change the music source without having to go through annoying pairing processes again. Both wireless headphones weigh 4.1 grams each and are operated by touch gestures on the surface.

Not only general settings like volume can be regulated here. Features like ANC can also be turned on or off here. If you take the FreeBuds 4 out of your ears, playback pauses. However, as soon as you put them back in, music playback starts all over again. The battery performance doesn’t sound groundbreaking, but solid. The two in-ears are supposed to last four hours with a full battery. The fully charged case is supposed to provide another 18 hours in turn. The transport and battery case is charged via USB-C. However, Huawei also wants to offer a case that can be charged wirelessly via Qi charging surface for a surcharge.

Price and availability

On July 6, it should be so far. Then the new FreeBuds 4 come in the colors “Silver Frost” and “Ceramic White” in German stores. Huawei itself wants to call an MSRP of 149 euros. If you prefer a case that can be charged inductively without a USB-C cable, you will have to pay 169 Euros.
