Huawei has unveiled its new MateView and MateView GT monitors. They are supposed to stand out with their design and features. For example, with a touch operation of the OSD or a touch function in the soundbar.
Huawei MateView – 4K+ Ultra HD
Huawei’s MateView monitor features an IPS panel that resolves in 3,840 x 2,560 pixels. The aspect ratio is 3:2 and the DCI-P3 color space is covered by 98 percent. Thus, a large color spectrum is promised, whereby the color depth is 10 bits. Contrasts and brightness are also on a high level of 1,200:1 and a maximum brightness of 500 cd/m². The IPS panel is rather nothing for gamers due to a refresh rate of 60 Hz and a response time of 8 ms.
Overall, the Huawei MateView is embedded in a slim metal casing in bright silver. The bezel is particularly slim and only measures 6 mm, just like the case and the screen’s stand. The monitor reaches 0.9 cm at the narrowest point to 1.3 cm at the widest point. In the stand of the MateView, the ports are integrated. A mini DisplayPort, two USB-C ports, two USB-A ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, and a combo port for micro and headphones are found here. One of the USB-C ports offers image and sound transmission and 65 watts of Power Delivery, whereas the other is for the 135 watt power supply.
The audio features of the MateView also have a lot to offer. Two digital microphones and full-frequency speakers have been installed, and the microphones provide a 4-meter far-field sound recording with echo cancellation for voice calls. Wireless communication is possible via integrated WLAN and Bluetooth. There is also a special function for operating the menu. With the touch-sensitive Smart Bar at the bottom of the display, can easily go through the menu and, for example, select the input sources.
Huawei MateView GT – perfect for gamers
The Huawei MateView GT is optimal for gamers with special features like “Dark Field”, which brightens up opponents in dark areas and an adjusted crosshair. The monitor operates at 165 Hz and brings across 3,440 x 1,440 pixels. The MateView GT’s panel is curved in a radius of 1.5 meters and comes to 34 inches. The color depth is also 10 bits and the DCI-P3 color space is covered by 90%. The contrast ratio is 4,000:1 and the MateView GT’s response time is just 4 ms.
When it comes to sound, the screen offers the same features as the MateView. The soundbar has its own touch bar to control the volume and RGB lighting effects. In terms of ports, the GT has two HDMI 2.0 ports, two USB-C ports and a combo port for headphones as well as a microphone. In addition, there is a DisplayPort 1.4 port. One of the USB-C ports is for the power supply and the other can supply up to 10 watts to a tablet, for example. In contrast to the MateView, the GT does not have WLAN and Bluetooth.
