Huawei presents special smartwatch for running

In addition to the new smartphones of the P50 series, Huawei has also introduced a new smartwatch. The Watch GT Runner is supposed to live up to its name and be the perfect companion for runners.

The Huawei Watch GT Runner can clearly be assigned to the second product category. The smartwatch, which was recently introduced by Huawei, is supposed to offer runners in particular a lot of added value. But what makes it the perfect runner’s watch? Huawei emphasizes the “TruSeen 5.0” application in particular.

This is clearly aimed at running and wants to be a guarantor of individual and effective running training. Parameters such as weight, pulse and height are used to design a customized training plan. This is not only intended for advanced runners. According to Huawei, everything from beginners to professional runners should enjoy the training partner. During the workout, important information about the unit can be viewed. With this, Huawei probably wants to offer a personal trainer for the wrist.

The Chinese company relies on a compact design so that the smartwatch does not get on your nerves even during continuous running. With a display diagonal of just 46 mm, the GT Runner is pleasingly unobtrusive and not at all clunky. The weight of 38.5 g will also please many athletes. The latest technology is at work under the hood of the smartwatch. The installed sensors in particular sound promising. Besides an obligatory heart rate monitor, the smartwatch also offers blood oxygen measurement and a practical sleep tracker.

A challenge to Garmin?

The Chinese manufacturer makes no secret of the fact that the Watch GT Runner is a genuine sports watch. Those who do not use the Huawei smartwatch at least to a large extent for sports will probably be annoyed by the rather meager selection of apps suitable for everyday use. This also makes it clear that Huawei cannot or does not want to poach potential buyers of an Apple Watch. Instead, the company seems to rather fish in the sports watch segment, where Garmin is currently still ahead.
