Huawei presented a whole range of exciting new products at a launch event in Barcelona. The Huawei Watch GT5 and Watch GT5 Pro, as well as the Watch D2, are three new products in the wearables segment.
Huawei Watch GT5 and GT5 Pro in detail
Wearable fans will be delighted, as Huawei is bringing back the Pro model in the GT series with the 5th model generation. The normal Huawei Watch GT5 comes in two sizes: The compact 41 mm model will be available in four variants, including a model with white composite leather, while the larger watch comes in 46 mm and is offered in three variations. New this year is the “Blue Woven” model in the new trend color blue.
The Watch GT5 Pro, on the other hand, comes in 42 mm and 46 mm, with the smaller model available in an elegant white ceramic version, while the larger watch is available in robust titanium.
At the heart of the wearables is the new TruSense system, which can measure heart rate and blood oxygen saturation as well as other health values faster and more accurately. Skin temperature, blood pressure and stress can also be measured, while an ECG function is only available on the Huawei Watch GT5 Pro.
In addition, both variants rely on a new dual-band Sunflower FPS, which is said to offer 40 percent higher route accuracy, 30 percent higher distance accuracy and 20 percent more accurate speed accuracy compared to the Watch GT4.
The Huawei Watch GT5 Pro is also IP69K certified, making it suitable for diving. It also has a new super-hard glass coating, which is said to be 200 percent more robust.
Both smartwatch variants are compatible with Android and iOS and, for the first time, offer the option of responding to notifications and more directly via the watch using the keyboard. Unfortunately, this only works on Android.
Another highlight of the Huawei Watch GT5 and Watch GT5 Pro is the battery life. The wearables last up to 10 days with typical use and a maximum of 14 days.
Huawei Watch D2 and Watch Ultimate in green
The Huawei Watch D2 is also new. The health wearable is the first on the market to enable 24-hour blood pressure measurement. The airbag for this, which inflates to measure blood pressure, has been integrated directly into the wristband in the new edition, which improves comfort.
Compared to the first generation, the Watch D2 now comes with a crown. It also relies on Huawei’s new TruSense sensor and comes with over 80 workout modes. Thanks to the built-in speaker, the watch now also allows Bluetooth calls and has a battery life of up to 6 days.
In addition, Huawei has succeeded in making the Watch D2 even more compact than its predecessor with a larger screen. It is only 26.5 mm wide, 48 mm high and still has a 1.82 inch screen.
Huawei Watch Ultimate in Fairway Green
Also new is the well-known Huawei Watch Ultimate in the new color green (Fairway Green). This comes in a new green color scheme and with a two-tone fabric strap.
Special features include new outdoor functions such as Global Maps and the option to import map routes, a golf function with over 15,000 golf courses from all over the world, as well as a diving mode down to a depth of 100 meters.
The green model is aimed entirely at golf and features new, exclusive watch faces. These include one that shows how well you are playing the course on the outside of the indicator. Eagle, birdie, par and co. are displayed in accentuated colors. So you can always see where you can still improve.
Prices and availability
The new Wearabes from Huawei will be available in stores from September 19, 2024. It starts with the Watch GT5 in 41 mm with prices from 249.00 euros to 299.00 euros for the Milanese Gold version. The Watch GT5 in 46 mm starts at 249 euros in black, the blue model costs 279 euros and the brown leather version costs 269 euros.
The Huawei Watch GT5 Pro in 42 mm starts at 449 euros (leather) and 599 euros (ceramic). The 46 mm model costs 499 euros (titanium) and 379 euros (black). The Huawei Watch D2 in black and white is available for 399 euros, while the new Watch Ultimate in green starts at 899 euros.
