Huawei Watch Ultimate is a wolf in sheep’s clothing
At first glance at the published images of the Huawei Watch Ultimate, you might think that it is a conventional wristwatch. The Chinese tech company relies on a classic watch design, so the smartwatch can only be identified as such at second glance. Thus, Huawei stays true to itself and launches a device that looks very similar to the Watch GT3 Pro, which will be launched in mid-2022. One main difference to the previous top model is said to be the materials used. While the GT3 Pro relies primarily on ceramic or titanium, the Watch Ultimate uses a special metal alloy based on zirconium.
This is said to bring amorphous properties that provide elasticity and resistance. For the wristband itself, however, Huawei wants to stay true to titanium. A rubber strap is also available for sporty use. The new high-quality material is not only supposed to be resistant and elastic. On top of that, it can be manufactured in a pleasingly thin way, so the device is supposed to have a thickness of just 13 mm. A 1.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels will be placed on the 48.5 x 48.5 mm casing. A layer of sapphire glass is supposed to provide protection for the display.
Intended for outdoor use
Once you take a look at the features of the Huawei Watch Ultimate, it quickly becomes clear that this smartwatch was not made for the average consumer. Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra introduced in September 2022, the Ultimate is supposed to meet the highest demands. On the one hand, the so-called Explorer mode has to be emphasized. This can be activated by pressing one of the two buttons on the smartwatch. Once in explorer mode, the smartwatch’s GPS tracking is supposed to work much more accurately. On top of that, the watch switches to a special interface that shows you the most important information for outdoor activities.
In addition to health data, this includes, for example, a compass. Besides the “explorer button”, another button as well as a classic crown serve the operation. Furthermore, the Huawei Watch Ultimate scores with its diving properties. You should be able to dive 100 meters with the smartwatch, which makes technical diving possible. Besides the ISO 22810 and EN 13319 certifications, Huawei has also equipped the smartwatch with a special dive computer. For Chinese customers, the smartwatch already offers satellite communication. For example, in areas with poor or no network coverage, emergency calls can be sent via message.
Battery life of 14 days
In addition to the professional functions that should be of interest to adventurers and divers, the flagship watch naturally also supports conventional sports functions. Thus, you should be able to track all common sports. Special disciplines like golf are also supposed to be included. It should only take one hour to fully charge the Huawei Watch Ultimate. With a full battery, the smartwatch should then be able to last up to two weeks.
Price and availability
The Huawei Watch Ultimate is also to come to Germany. At what price the premium smartwatch will appear on our store shelves, however, is still uncertain. The same applies to the release date. In China, the tech company currently charges an RRP of 5,999 yuan. That corresponds to about 800 Euros. More information is available on the official website.
