Humanoid robots from Tesla: the most important product according to Elon Musk

Tesla’s electric cars are flushing more money into the company’s coffers than ever before. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, however, this is not the most important field of activity for his company. Tesla’s humanoid robots are already in focus, he said.

Humanoid robots from Tesla – More important than cars

During the presentation of the latest business figures, Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that humanoid robots represent the most important product on which the US manufacturer is currently working. Although it would still take years until the product was ready for series production, Musk said that the “Tesla Bot” was already more important than the company’s electric cars.

According to Musk, the humanoid robot has much more potential than the future of electric cars or the announced cyber truck. First, the robot will be used in Tesla’s factories.

In the future, however, it could also help to absorb and compensate for the global shortage of workers, Musk is quoted as saying. In the USA, nine million workers are currently missing because of Omikron, the Tesla Bot zoll represent an important basis in the economy in the future.

The Tesla Bot

The “Tesla Bot” is now called “Optimus” and was presented at the AI Day on August 20, 2021 in the context of a press conference using render images, before an actor squeezed into the robot suit and invited to dance.

According to Musk, the final robot will stand at a height of 1.76 meters and weigh around 56 kg. It should be able to carry loads weighing up to 20 kg and lift almost 70 kg from its cross. It is intended to be used primarily in the performance of dangerous, repetitive and tedious tasks and to relieve this burden from human workers.

Prototype to be completed in 2022

At the heart of Tesla’s humanoid “bipedal general-purpose robot” is the FSD computer, which also supports Tesla’s “autonomous driving.” According to Musk, the robot should be able to do its part to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI) and realize hypothetical algorithms that would be comparable to human intelligence.

In the course of 2022, Musk wants to present the first prototype of Tesla Optimus to the public. However, it is doubtful whether this will really succeed. After all, there is still no sign of the one million autonomous cabs on the roads that were announced in 2020.
