At IFA 2022, Lenovo presented a lot of notebooks, but also new tablets. The Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 offers surprisingly good features, especially in its Pro version with OLED screen and strong processor.
Quite a lot of performance for a tablet
This year’s IFA is not only used by Lenovo to present highlights like the latest generation of its foldable notebook ThinkPad X1 Fold or the powerful business notebook Lenovo ThinkBook 16p Gen 3. The Chinese also had two novelties up their sleeves for tablet fans. The Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 and the Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 are two new mobile devices. The Pro model in particular scores with rich hardware. A MediaTek Kompanio 1300 works under the hood, and the chipset offers four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores, which are supposed to offer up to 2.6 GHz.
For the not too demanding tasks, the fancy tablet keeps four more cores ready in the form of the Cortex-A55, which offer 2.0 GHz. The chipset is supported by either 4 GB or 8 GB of working memory. In terms of storage space, the user can choose between 128 GB or 256 GB. We particularly like the fact that the internal storage of Lenovo’s Tab P11 Gen 2 can be expanded via microSD. Thus, there should be enough storage for everyone.
Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 Pro with smaller display
The biggest differences between the standard version and the Pro model can be found in the display and performance. The Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 features an OLED panel with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,536 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a size of 11.2 inches. Brightness values of 600 nits should also ensure that you can see everything well even in bright surroundings without restrictions. In contrast, the “normal” Lenovo Tab 11 Gen 2 relies on a larger 11.5-inch display. Unfortunately, this only relies on LCD technology and is likely to offer much poorer contrasts and colors.
The resolution is also significantly lower at 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. The refresh rate, on the other hand, is the same as that of the Pro model. Furthermore, you have to make concessions in terms of performance. The MediaTek Helio G99 is a weaker processor. You can choose between 4 or 6 GB of RAM. You can choose between 64 or 128 GB of storage. The camera, on the other hand, is the same for both tablets. The main camera with a resolution of 13 MP is on the back. The front has a selfie camera with a resolution of 8 MP.
Prices and availability
The Lenovo Tab P11 Gen 2 is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of next year. The Chinese manufacturer wants to call an MSRP of 349 Euros for the standard version. In view of the better configuration, the Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 with a RRP of 499 Euros (~$599) sounds almost more interesting. It is therefore not surprising that Lenovo will launch it in September 2022.
