Ikea Symfonisk shelf gets wireless charging function

In January 2022, the Swedish furniture store had officially unveiled the second generation of the Ikea Symfonisk bookshelf speaker (we reported). Now the speaker is getting an exciting update. Before the end of June, the Ikea Symfonisk shelf will be enhanced with a wireless charging feature.

If you already have the new (or first generation) Ikea Symfonisk bookshelf speaker at home, you can look forward to an interesting addition. With the Ikea Symfonisk shelf with wireless charging function (item number 205.210.56), you can now expect a practical and visually appealing extension.

On the top of the shelf, the well-known Wi-Fi speaker can be easily fixed with just four Allen screws. Underneath, however, you’ll find the innovation in the form of a shelf that also serves as a wireless charging pad.

It allows smartphones and other QI-enabled devices to be charged, and wirelessly at that. This is made possible by a power port that wants to be connected to a power outlet from the back of the shelf. In addition, a USB-C port is available on the left side, which can also be used for charging. At a maximum speed of 18 watts. The USB C port is compatible with the Power Delivery 3.0 standard.

For wireless charging, simply place the device on the designated plus sign (+). An LED indicator also informs about the wireless charging process: if the LED is lit, charging is in progress. If the light goes out, the charging process is complete. At most, the Ikea Symfonisk shelf should be loaded with a weight of 3 KG, according to the manufacturer.
