The Ikea TRÅDFRI smart home system is one of the most affordable solutions on the market. Apparently too cheap, as the Swedish furniture store thinks. Because the required gateway, which serves as the central key, is again affected by a price increase. At the same time, there is a new Ikea Home smart app that enables compatibility with two new smart blinds.
Ikea TRÅDFRI price increase: price for gateway doubles
At the launch of Ikea TRÅDFRI Gateway, the gateway of the smart home system, which serves as the central base for all systems, cost 29.99 euros. The price was reduced quite quickly to 19.99 euros, but now had to be increased for the second time. Meanwhile, 40.00 euros are due for the gateway.
At the same time, the furniture store is also launching a new version of the Ikea Home smart app. The new version 1.8.1. brings compatibility with two new smart blinds that the company introduced at the same time.
Ikea PRAKTLYSING and TREDANSEN unveiled
They go by the, as always, not very sonorous names of Ikea PRAKTLYSING and TREDANSEN. Both motorized blinds are offered in addition to the already available models KADRILJ and FYRTUR.
PRAKTLYSING waits with a honeycomb structure and comes exclusively in white color design. The blind is offered in two variants with a size of 140 x 195 cm and 120 x 195 cm. TREDANSEN, on the other hand, comes without a honeycomb pattern and is also offered exclusively in white. Here, too, the sizes 140 x 195 cm and 120 x 195 cm are available.
Both smart blinds can be optionally integrated into the smart home system with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit or Google via the aforementioned gateway or used autonomously. A corresponding remote control is directly in the scope of delivery.
Both blinds are battery operated and therefore do not require a power supply. The batteries can be removed from the top bar for charging via micro-USB.
