Beats has introduced its new in-ear headphones. Features Apple’s technology and is also the most affordable in-ears from Beats to date.
Technically neatly revised
The new in-ears of Beats have been technically revised, so apart from the design they don’t have much in common with the BeatsX. The Flex have a new audio driver with a multi-layer membrane with two-chamber acoustics. The microphone has also been optimized. To reduce the pressure on the ears, the earphones are vented.
As with the AirPods, the earphones are connected automatically when inserting and removing the earphones, so that the magnetic earphones provide an automatic playback and pause function. With the control element on the neckband the playback is controlled, the voice assistant can be activated, calls can be taken and the volume can be adjusted.
The Beats Flex uses the W1 chip instead of the H1 chip from the AirPods Pro. This was already used with the first AirPods from 2016. The battery of the earphones is integrated in the neckband and is simply charged via USB-C, then the in-ears have a runtime of up to 12 hours. Especially practical is the quick-charging function, here you can already charge after 10 minutes and listen to about 1.5 hours of music again. The neck strap of the Beats Flex is made of a nickel-titanium alloy (Nitinol) and has a shape memory.
Android and iOS support
Even though there is an Apple integration in the earphones, the Beats Flex also supports Android smartphones. Simply download the Beats app from the Play Store and you can quickly pair the devices and check their status. Apple audio sharing is also supported. Whether via iPad or iPhone, the music can be shared wirelessly with other earphones or AirPods.
Availability and price
The Beats Flex can be pre-ordered since 13 October 2020 at a price of 48.65 euros. Delivery of the earphones is scheduled to start on October 21. The Beats Flex are available in the colors flame blue, smoke gray, yuzu yellow and beats black. The blue and grey ones will be available from the beginning of next year.
