Infinix Note 12 VIP: Affordable smartphone with 120 Hz display and 108 MP camera

With the Infinix Note 12 VIP, the Hong Kong-based manufacturer has introduced an exciting new smartphone. It offers a 120 Hz AMOLED display, a 108 megapixel camera and a charging power of 120 watts for around 300 Euros. The only downside: the smartphone will probably not come to Germany.

Infinix Note 12 VIP details: The features are impressive

With the Infinix Note 12 VIP, the manufacturer founded in 2013 has introduced a new smartphone that wants to offer high-end specifications at a mid-range price and looks classy to boot. It positions itself as a top model above the Note 12 (G96), Note 12 (G88) and Note 12i in the VIP edition. Okay, the naming might need some tweaking.

The display of the Note 12 VIP is a 6.7-inch Full HD+ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 360 Hz, which fully covers the DCI-P3 color space.

The VIP is powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 SoC, which combines two powerful ARM Cortex-A76 computing cores and six frugal Cortex-A55 cores. It has a real 8 GB of working memory at its disposal, which can, however, be combined with the system memory to provide up to 13 GB of extended RAM.

Elegant design

The design of the Infinix Note 12 VIP looks classy and tidy. The smartphone is only 7.89 mm thick and weighs just 192 grams. This is made possible by materials from aerospace technology. The exterior catches the eye with its flattened edges and the large camera setup.

Another special feature is the smartphone’s charging performance. The 4,500 mAh battery can be charged quickly at 120 watts and is thus said to charge from 0 percent to 100 percent in just 17 minutes.

In 10 minutes on the mains, the Infinix Note 12 VIP is said to be fit for 86 hours of music playback, six hours of gaming and five hours of streaming via YouTube. At the same time, according to the manufacturer, the charging system employs 103 safety features and 18 thermal sensors, which ensure the necessary safety in the TÜV Rheinland-certified fast charging system even after 800 charging cycles.

Strong cameras

The cameras of the Infinix Note 12 VIP apparently do not have to accept any compromises either. For the main camera, the manufacturer relies on a 108 megapixel sensor in 1/1.67 inch format with an aperture of f/1.5.

It is supported by a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera (f/2.2) and an f/2.4 depth lens. There is also laser autofocus. The front-facing camera offers a resolution of 16 megapixels. It sits in the center of a punch hole.

Two stereo speakers with dts support for 360-degree surround sound are also said to provide a rich sound. Mobile gamers are said to benefit from the Monster Game Kit, which uses dual X-axis motors for haptic feedback.

Price and Availability

The Infinix Note 12 VIP is expected to be offered in selected regions soon. Germany is unlikely to be one of them. The price is the equivalent of around 290 euros. More information is available on the manufacturer’s website.
