With the latest spring update, Insta360 is taking its Flow 2 and Flow 2 Pro (our test) gimbals to a new level. Android users in particular will benefit from long-awaited functions, while iPhone users will also receive additional features. The aim of the update is to make mobile content production easier, more flexible and more professional – without any additional equipment. The focus is clearly on smart automation, better camera support and faster workflows for creative applications.

  • Native multi-lens support for Android and iOS enables access to ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses
  • 360 Panorama 2.0 creates spherical images up to 50% faster
  • Dual View Mode allows simultaneous recording with multiple cameras
  • Apple Watch Control brings remote control directly to your wrist

Improved camera support and new creative possibilities

The heart of the update is the significantly improved camera integration. For the first time, many Android flagships have native access to all available lenses within the Insta360 app. This includes ultra-wide-angle, standard and telephoto lenses, which can now be used without restrictions. Devices from Samsung, Google Pixel, OPPO and vivo in particular benefit from this.

This extension ensures that images can be created in full native quality – without compromising on resolution or dynamic range. In combination with gimbal stabilization, professional videos are created that are suitable for a wide range of scenarios: from concerts and sporting events to vlogs.

Insta360 Spring Update

The new version of 360-degree photography also brings noticeable improvements. With “360 Panorama 2.0”, complete spherical images can be created in around 20 seconds – around 50 percent faster than before. These panoramas can be shared interactively or reframed afterwards. Particularly practical: content can be optimized directly for social media, including creative effects such as “Tiny Planet”.

Insta360 also expands the creative possibilities with new recording modes. Dual View Mode enables parallel shots with front and rear cameras or two rear lenses. This creates multiple perspectives in a single take – ideal for reaction videos, interviews or dynamic storytelling formats.

AI tracking, remote functions and Apple Watch integration

In addition to the camera improvements, Insta360 is increasingly focusing on intelligent automation. The integrated AI Tracker now works cross-platform on all Android devices and in a wide range of apps. This means that subjects are reliably tracked – whether for video calls, live streams or classic recordings.

Another practical new feature is the extended remote control. Users can now operate the Flow 2 Pro via a second smartphone. This opens up new possibilities for solo creators, for example for more complex tracking shots or fixed setups. Settings such as angle, tracking or recording can be flexibly adjusted without having to interrupt the shoot.

For iPhone users, the update brings a particularly convenient function: control via the Apple Watch. This can be used to start recordings, change modes or make zoom adjustments – directly from the wrist. This makes precise work easier and eliminates the need for external help.

This is complemented by features such as Multi-Person Tracking, which keeps several people in focus at the same time, and Active Zoom Tracking with up to 15x zoom. The latter enables stable shots even with distant, fast-moving subjects – a unique selling point in the gimbal sector.

Conclusion

With the Spring Update, Insta360 delivers a well thought-out upgrade for the Flow 2 series that significantly advances both Android and iOS users. The native lens support and improved AI functions in particular make the gimbals an even more versatile tool for content creators. The update is now available free of charge via the Insta360 app. The Flow 2 models themselves are still available in stores, priced in the mid-range segment depending on the version.
