Intel Arc Limited Edition: Preview of high-end desktop graphics card

Intel has provided a foretaste of the new big player in the desktop graphics card segment in a first teaser. The Intel Arc Limited Edition shows its board design for the first time and is supposed to excite gamers in the summer of 2022.

Intel Arc Limited Edition shows off in teaser

In addition to the new Arc mobile GPUs, Intel has also provided a first taste of the upcoming Intel Arc Limited Edition high-end desktop graphics card, which is set to launch in the summer. However, the card was initially only shown in a render video.

It is not clear what the name “Limited Edition” stands for. It is conceivable that we were shown a kind of Founders Edition, which is based on the reference design of the competition from NVIDIA and AMD.

At least the desktop graphics card looks good, at least visually. On the sides, the card apparently features an illuminated Intel Arc logo, while the back also appears to have cooling inside the backplate. On the front, there seem to be two axial fans that are supposed to keep the dual-slot graphics card in check in terms of heat.

HDMI and DisplayPort 2.0?

There also appears to be multiple HDMI and DisplayPort ports, but it’s not concretely apparent in the short render video. The arrangement here somewhat matches that of the Intel Arc Alchemist graphics card leaked in February which boasts three DisplayPorts and one HDMI port.

According to rumors, the high-end desktop graphics card will already rely on the DisplayPort 2.0 standard, which can realize significantly higher speeds compared to the currently popular DP 1.4. Instead of 32.4 Gbit/s, a full 80 Gbit/s is supposed to be possible.

Apart from that, technical specifications like 32 Xe cores, 32 ray tracing units and 16 GB GDDR6 RAM including 16 MB L2 cache for the top model ACM-G10 are in the cards. The cheaper ACM-G11 model, on the other hand, is supposed to offer a maximum of 8 Xe cores, 4 MB L2 cache and a 96 bit memory interface, and will also only be connected via 8 PCI Express lanes (PCIe Gen4).

More Information

The manufacturer still doesn’t tell us the real final details, prices and specifications of the Intel Arc Limited Edition. Intel will have to let the cat out of the bag for the release in summer 2022 at the latest.
