Intersolar 2026: GoodWe Showcases Heat Pumps, Wallboxes and More

Intersolar Europe in Munich has traditionally been an important showcase for GoodWe—and this year, the Chinese manufacturer’s product portfolio was more extensive than ever before. From June 23 to 25, GoodWe showcased a wide range of home energy storage systems, inverters, wallboxes, and heat pumps at Booth 210 in Hall B4. We took a closer look at the most important new products.

GoodWe ESA Series (5–30 kW): Home Energy Storage Systems with TÜV “Whisper” Certification

The focus of the trade show presentation was the ESA Series, GoodWe’s all-in-one home energy storage system for modern residential buildings. The system follows the so-called 4S concept: Silent, Smart, Secure, and Simple. The inverter, battery, backup switch, smart meter, and surge protector are integrated into a single pre-wired enclosure.

According to GoodWe, the system can be installed in under ten minutes—at Intersolar, the company even held an installation race, in which the winning team installed three battery modules, including all connections, in 2 minutes and 45 seconds.

Technically, the ESA series offers single-phase variants up to 10 kW as well as three-phase models up to 30 kW. The modular battery modules are available in capacities ranging from 5 to 9 kWh; up to 12 units can be combined, enabling a total capacity of up to 108 kWh. The noise performance is particularly noteworthy.

GoodWe received the world’s first Class A certification from TÜV Rheinland for low-noise operation of energy storage systems. During normal operation, the 5- to 8-kW models operate at just 30 dB, which is quieter than a quiet conversation.

The safety architecture includes six levels of protection, ranging from the cell level to the entire system, including an aerosol-based fire suppression system in each battery module and AI-powered AFCI 3.0 technology for arc detection. In the event of a power outage, the system switches to backup mode in less than 4 milliseconds.

ESA-Athena S3: The Micro-Storage Solution for the DIY Market

As a compact addition to the large ESA series, GoodWe introduced the ESA-Athena S3, which, as the “little sister,” is specifically aimed at the DIY market and users of balcony power plants. The all-in-one device combines an inverter, a LiFePO₄ battery, and a battery management system in a compact, stackable enclosure.

Four MPPT inputs allow for a PV input of up to 2,400 W; on-grid feed-in is legally limited to 800 W, while up to 1,500 W is available in off-grid operation. The base capacity is 1.92 kWh; by adding additional battery modules, the system can be expanded to up to 9.6 kWh.

Thanks to an integrated aerosol fire suppression system and a self-heating function, the Athena S3 operates reliably from −20 °C to +55 °C. Installation requires no tools and takes about 15 minutes, according to the manufacturer.

GoodWe Suncake: A New Take on the Balcony Power Plant

Also on display at the GoodWe booth was the Suncake balcony power plant, which is marketed under GoodWe’s PVBM brand. The system is aimed at renters and homeowners looking for an easy way to get started with solar energy and can be bundled with the ESA Athena S3.

According to the manufacturer, the Suncake module, with an 800 W input power, generates between 2.5 and 4 kWh per day under German weather conditions—enough to power a refrigerator for about a day or recharge an e-bike multiple times. Both products comply with European CE and VDE standards for grid feed-in.

HCA G3: The New V2X-Capable Wallbox

With the third generation of its EV charging solutions, GoodWe introduces the HCA G3 series. The wallbox supports bidirectional charging—that is, Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H)—and integrates seamlessly into the GoodWe ecosystem.

This is particularly true when combined with the Vela series solar carport. As with previous models, control is handled via GoodWe’s SEMS+ app, which enables charging using surplus solar power, dynamic rates, or simply according to a schedule, among other features.

GoodHeat R290: Heat Pump from the GoodWe Group

Last but not least, GoodWe unveiled the new generation of the R290 air-to-water heat pump for residential use under its subsidiary brand GoodHeat. The natural refrigerant R290 (propane) has a very low global warming potential and is considered a future-proof alternative to synthetic refrigerants.

The heat pump uses PV Direct Drive technology with MPPT functionality, meaning it can be powered directly from a solar system without the need for DC-to-AC conversion. The capacity ranges from 6 to 24 kW, and all models achieve energy efficiency ratings up to A+++ at both 35 °C and 55 °C flow temperatures.

The maximum operating range in heating mode extends from −25 °C to +45 °C outdoor temperature. Via SG-Ready and PV-Ready interfaces, the heat pump can be fully integrated into the GoodWe energy management system.

Networked Energy Management as the Common Thread

What particularly distinguished GoodWe’s presence at this year’s Intersolar was not a single product, but the overarching system concept: Inverters, storage systems, wallboxes, heat pumps, and solar systems are designed to merge via the SEMS+ platform into a smart, self-regulating home energy system. We’ll take a closer look at the individual products in due course.
