IO Hawk Legacy: E-scooter with 120 kilometer range

IO Hawk, a company based in Krefeld, Germany, has unveiled the Legacy, an e-scooter that can travel 120 kilometers on one battery charge.

Strong battery at the heart

The heart of the now presented e-scooter is thus clearly the lithium battery installed in it, which is 25 ampere hours strong and provides for the enormous endurance of the scooter. It can be charged via two charging ports; if both are used, the charging time is six hours, but twelve hours if one port is used. Also contributing to the riding pleasure are a 500-watt motor, integrated Spring-R suspension technology with hydraulic suspension on the rear wheel, and air-filled, 10-inch off-road tires. In a press release, it is said that this equipment enables a “previously unknown driving experience on the e-scooter with road approval”.

Furthermore, the fact that the e-scooter is equipped with an anti-lock braking system is worth highlighting. This system, which is more familiar from much more powerful two-wheelers, prevents the wheels from locking when braking and is thus intended to prevent falls in critical situations. It is considered a key safety feature for motorized two-wheelers. Incidentally, the Legacy is braked with hydraulic disc brakes. Braking is indicated by a brake light, which should increase road safety.

The Legacy can be used by people weighing a maximum of 150 kilograms. The stability of the e-scooter is not guaranteed with a higher weight. A very wide step surface with an integrated footrest should increase comfort when riding.

Three speed levels

The maximum achievable speed is 20 km/h, which allows for road approval in Germany. The speed can be regulated in three stages of 9, 14 and even 20 km/h via the throttle. The vehicle is said to be able to climb inclines of up to 20 percent without any problems.

The e-scooter’s features are rounded off by a horn, an easy-to-operate folding mechanism and a five-inch color display. The latter offers the option of making numerous settings. For example, the acceleration method can be adjusted or the time span until the scooter automatically switches off can be adjusted. In addition, speed, driving time, kilometers driven, battery voltage and the mileage are displayed.

Price and availability

IO Hawk’s e-scooter is available for pre-order now via the company’s website. It is available in black, yellow and mint color options. The price is 1,949 euros. IO Hawk is thus consistently positioning itself further in the premium class, which also includes the last new E-Scooter Legend Lite.
