iPhone 14 price: Why it’s worth the wait

Apple officially unveiled the new iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro at the keynote on September 07. Both smartphone model series start in Germany with an increased price compared to the predecessor. If you don’t have to have one of Apple’s new smartphones right at release, it could definitely be worth the wait, as the iPhone 14 price could drop quickly

Apple officially unveiled four new models of the 14 generation last week, starting at 999 euros in Germany. So the iPhone 14 price has increased significantly compared to the previous generation, at least in this country.

But the wait could be worth it, as can be seen from a analysis by idealo. The price comparison portal assumes that prices are likely to fall by up to 16 percent in the first six months.

For this one fell back to the price courses of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models. Only for the new iPhone 14 Plus one dares no prognosis, since this variant of Apple celebrates its premiere this year.

Accordingly, idealo assumes that the iPhone 14 price should drop by up to 12 percent after about four months. In the first three months after the release usually does nothing, but from the fourth month, prices usually fall by about 10 percent. After five months or more, savings could even be as high as 15 percent.

iPhone 14 Pro price drops later

It’s a bit different with the prices of the iPhone 14 Pro, at least in the forecast on the part of idealo. The new top model, which is offered from 1,299 euros or as Pro Max from 1,449 euros in Germany, should only become noticeably cheaper after about six months.

At least this was the case with the predecessors iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro, which dropped in price by an average of 10% after six months. From the seventh month onwards, it is expected that Apple will save about 180 Euros compared to the recommended retail price.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max on the other hand could be found 13 percent cheaper after six months and 14 percent cheaper after seven months.

However, idealo’s iPhone 14 price forecasts should be taken with a grain of salt, and of course do not guarantee that the cost of the smartphones will actually move in this direction.

Idealo even expects that due to the current economic developments and the associated increased price level, the prices of the iPhone 14 models should fall more slowly than those of the previous generations. The price already decreased more slowly in the same period when switching from the 12 Pro to the 13 Pro. This should be the case again for the iPhone 14 Pro.

Thus, you should probably not expect a significantly lower price for the new Apple iPhone 14 generation on Black Friday or Christmas in 2022.
