Jackery: Double sided solar panel Saga 80 presented

On the occasion of the IFA in Berlin, Jackery presented its new double-sided solar panel Saga 80. The device for mobile power generation fits into the time of almost unlimited rising energy prices – and is said to be particularly efficient thanks to its double-sided usability.

Specially small model

With the Saga 80 panel, Jackery adds an overall rather low-power and small model to its already existing solar panel portfolio. The Saga 100 and Saga 200 models have already been introduced, with the numbers in the product name representing the peak power in watts. The new model thus achieves a peak power of 80 watts. However, it differs from the other two models not only in this point, but also in that it cannot be folded. This might be a hindrance when transporting the panel: It is 90.6 x 52.5 centimeters in any case. It weighs 5.1 kilograms. When in use, however, it takes up less space than the two larger models.

Equipped with panels on both sides

Another special feature of the Saga 80 is that it has solar panels on both sides. This allows it to produce electricity on both sides at the same time, which should make it particularly efficient. This simultaneous power production on both sides is made possible by the use of white glass, which achieves a light transmission of 95 percent.

The power panel can be assembled in less than a minute without tools or manual dexterity. The protection against dust and the waterproof construction are also practical: The panel has IP68 certification. The panel also scores points with its low-iron, fully tempered glass and the especially protected corners. Both should ensure a long durability.

Price and availability

The solar panel, which is compatible with all of the manufacturer’s power stations, is available now. The recommended retail price is around 250 euros. It is also available in a package with the Explorer 1000 Pro power station for around 1,700 euros together. The corresponding package is called “Jackery Solar Generator 1000 Pro 160W”.
