Leica Camera AG presented the Leica LUX Grip on February 6, 2025. This is a MagSafe camera grip designed to bring the Leica feeling to the iPhone. With its sophisticated design and seamless integration into the Leica LUX app, the LUX Grip promises an unparalleled mobile photography experience.

Leica LUX Grip: design and ergonomics
The Leica LUX Grip is characterized by a clear design and an ergonomic shape reminiscent of classic Leica cameras. It will only be available in the color black. It is attached using magnetic MagSafe technology, which ensures a secure and simple connection to the iPhone.
During a hands-on event in Berlin, I was able to see for myself that the magnet sticks to the Apple smartphone with a pleasantly strong grip. The prerequisite is that you use a case with MagSafe certification for your iPhone.
Of course, using it with an iPhone without a case is even better. Weighing just 130 grams, the grip is comfortable to hold and is suitable for both left and right-handed users.
To switch between the respective “mode” for right or left-handers, simply loosen two screws and turn the handle 180 degrees. For convenient transportation, there is also an optional carrying case in a stylish leather look.
Leica LUX Grip: Physical controls
All controls of the LUX Grip follow the Leica design philosophy and offer a familiar camera experience. The two-stage silver-colored shutter release enables precise focusing with light pressure and release when fully depressed.
Two additional buttons can be customized via the Leica LUX app. Various functions can be conveniently assigned here. A handy control dial offers precise control over camera settings such as zoom, aperture, shutter speed and exposure compensation.
The powerful battery enables up to 1,000 shots on a full charge and is fully charged in just two hours via USB-C. Fans of sustainable technology will also like the fact that the battery can be replaced.
Leica LUX App
The Leica LUX app complements the LUX Grip and offers the popular image and color aesthetics of legendary Leica lenses. Users can, for example, accentuate the bokeh effect of the Summilux-M or Noctilux-M and retain full control over exposure, ISO and shutter speed.
After product registration of the Grip, the full version of the app is included free of charge for one year. Incidentally, using the Leica LUX App is not only advisable, there is no alternative. After all, the LUX Grip cannot be used with the iPhone’s photography app.

The Leica LUX Grip is available immediately from selected Leica Stores, the Leica Online Store and specialist retailers. The RRP is €300.00. The practical carrying case is also available at an RRP of €55.00.
