Lenovo gets Legion gaming notebooks upgraded to Tiger Lake-H

Lenovo does not let itself be stopped either and revamps its gaming notebooks with the new Intel processors. These are now coming out with the new Tiger Lake H45 processors.

Lenovo Legion 5i in 15 and 17 inch

The Lenovo Legion 5i is the first of the improved gaming notebooks. Here, it comes with the new Intel Core i5-11400H and can optionally be configured up to the Core i7-11800H. Up to 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM is possible in the 15-inch model and up to 16 GB DDR4-3200 RAM in the 17-inch model. In the base configuration, the CPU in the Legion 5i is supported by an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti. Optionally, the notebook can also be configured with an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 3070. In terms of storage, up to 2 TB of SSD storage is planned for the Legion 5i 15-inch. The standard is still unknown here, in contrast to the 17-incher, here the connection is via PCIe 3.0 and 4.0. There are Gen-4 SSDs with 512 GB and 1 TB and Gen-3 SSDs with 256 GB, 512 GB and 1 TB.

There is also quite a bit of choice when it comes to the panel, with up to four different panels planned here. The 15-inch Legion 5i offers either an FHD IPS panel with 60 Hz, an FHD IPS panel with 120 Hz, an FHD IPS panel with 165 Hz, G-Sync, Dolby Vision and a 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color space or a WGHD IPS panel, also with 165 Hz, 100 percent coverage of the sRGB color space, Dolby Vision and G-Sync. For the 17-inch model, a FHD IPS panel with 60 Hz or a FHD IPS panel with 144 Hz is provided.

On the connectivity side, both sizes offer three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A ports, one Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, Ethernet, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C port, and another Thunderbolt 4 and audio port on the left. Wireless is available via Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1, and the webcam displays in HD at 720p and features an E-Shutter shutter. Overall, the weight of the 15-incher starts at 2.4 kg and the 17-incher starts at 2.94 kg, depending on the configuration.

Lenovo Legion 5i Pro in 16 inch

Equipped with the same selection of CPU, GPU, RAM and storage is also the intermediate size of the new gaming notebooks, the Lenovo Legion 5i Pro. The only difference to the Legion 5i is the screen. The maximum is a WQXGA panel in 16:10 format with 165 Hz, 100% coverage of the sRGB color space, Dolby Vision and G-Sync. The weight starts at 2.45 kg.

Lenovo Legion 7i in 16 inches

In the Legion 7i, there is already an Intel Core i7-11800H in the base or optionally the overclockable Core i9-11980HK. The GPU can be configured up to Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080. On the memory side, 16 or 32 GB DDR4-3200 RAM can be selected. Like the Lenovo Legion 5i, the display is a WQXGA IPS panel. It starts with a weight of 2.5 kg.

Availability and pricing

The Lenovo Legion 5i will be available in the summer starting at a price of 1,099 euros. Also available in the summer is da Legion 5i Pro at prices starting at 1,499 euros and the Legion 7i, which starts at 2,199 euros.
