Lenovo has prepared numerous new notebooks just in time for the upcoming CES 2021. The notebooks all belong to the IdeaPad lineup and bring the latest technology.
Different processors – Intel, AMD and Snapdragon
Lenovo’s new notebooks offer different processors. There are said to be the IdeaPads with 11th-generation Intel CPUs, AMD Ryzen 5000 aka Cezanne and Lucienne, and ARM-based Snapdragon 8cx.
IdeaPad 5 Pro comes with AMD Ryzen 5000
Equipped with the AMD Ryzen 5000 processor is the IdeaPad 5 Pro. The 5 Pro will be available in 14 and 16 inches. It is not yet clear which AMD Ryzen 5000 Lenovo will choose. Cezanne and Lucienne are available. In any case, there is a next-generation AMD processor for the new IdeaPad 5 Pro. In addition, Lenovo announced graphics cards up to the Nvidia GeForce MX450, RAM up to 16 GB and SDDs up to a size of 1 TB.
Lenovo IdeaPad 5i Pro with 11th generation Intel processor
Not much information is available on the IdeaPad 5i Pro at the moment. What is clear is that it will be powered by an 11th generation Intel processor. There will also be a 14-inch and a 16-inch variant of the 5i Pro. However, the display specifications are already known. The 14-inch version has 2,880 x 1,800 pixels and works with 90 Hz. The display is supposed to reach a brightness of up to 400 cd/m². The IdeaPad 5 Pro can also enjoy the same 16:10 display. The 16-inch version of the 5 Pro and 5i Pro, on the other hand, has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a brightness of up to 350 cd/m². Even though the resolution is lower, the 16-inch model has a resolution of 120 Hz.
In terms of size, the IdeaPad 5i Pro measures 356 × 251 × 16.9 to 17.9 mm (W × D × H) and weighs 2 kg. In contrast, the 14-inch notebook has a weight of 1.45 kg, the dimensions are not yet known. Here, the 14-inch notebook has a 56.5 Wh battery and the 16-inch device has a 75 Wh battery with a runtime of 10 hours and 14 hours in 1080p video playback, respectively. Battery life can also be increased by lowering the refresh rate to 60 Hz.
There are, of course, also plenty of ports. Here, the 5i Pro has a Thunderbolt 4 port, a USB Type C port, two USB 3.1 Type A 1st Gen ports, an HDMI 1.4b port as well as a headphone port and space for a memory card. More details are not yet known. Of course, the IdeaPad 5i Pro supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1.
IdeaPad 5G with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx
The last to come out is a 14-inch notebook with 5G connectivity, the IdeaPad 5G, the new mobile standard is supported by a Snapdragon X55 modem. The modem is coupled to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx. The ARM processor is supported by 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB or 512 GB SSD. These are connected via PCIe as an M.2-2280 module. The ARM notebook does without active cooling, so there is no fan in the IdeaPad 5G. What speaks for the ARM is the long battery life of up to 20 hours. The battery is 51 Wh and wakes up from standby in a flash.
The 14-inch Full HD display offers an IPS panel with 300 cd/m² and covers the sRGB color space completely. In addition, the IdeaPad 5G comes with the typical keyboard, a 720p webcam with infrared for a biometric login with Windows Hello and stereo speakers. Of course, the ports should not be missing, here the IdeaPad 5G offers two USB 3.2 Type C ports of the first generation, a USB 3.2 Type A port 1st Gen, a headphone jack as well as a place for the SIM card. This also ensures mobile connectivity. In addition to 5G, there is a fallback to LTE and Wi-Fi 5. Overall, the IdeaPad 5G comes in at 321.7 × 207 × 14.9 mm (W × D × H) with a weight of 1.2 kg.
Availability and prices
The IdeaPad with AMD Ryzen will be launched as early as April 2021 at prices starting at 829 euros. The IdeaPad 5i Pro will also hit the market in April and will be available starting at 899 euros. Last but not least, the IdeaPad 5G with Windows 10 is coming in May. The price for the notebook colored in Light Silver is not yet known.
