The Lenovo Legion Slim series in detail

A whole three new gaming notebooks await you in the Lenovo Legion Slim series of the 8th generation, which aim to score with excellent performance and strong mobility. With the new Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 (16-inch), Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and 5 (16-inch) and the brand new Lenovo Legion Slim 5 in 14-inch, you can expect different products.

They all feature the new Lenovo Artificial Intelligence (LA) chip family, integrated physical AI chips that power the Lenovo AI Engine+, which dynamically adjusts the Lenovo Legion ColdFront 5.0 cooling to provide the optimal path between maximum performance and minimum noise while running.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 in detail

New for the 8th generation, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 notebooks are designed to deliver top-of-the-line performance in triple-A gaming. They come with a peak 13th-generation Intel Core i9-13900H processor in the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i or up to an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor in the Lenovo Legion Slim 7, relied on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 and up to 32GB of DDR5 RAM running at 5,600MHz.

The 16-inch Lenovo PureSight gaming display in 16:10 format displays WQXGA at 240 hertz and gets up to 500 nits brightness. Alternatively, there is also a 3.2K display with 165 hertz and 430 nits of brightness, which covers the DCI-P3 color space 100 percent for creatives.

Thanks to the advanced Lenovo Legion ColdFront 5.0 cooling system with quad copper hybrid heatpipes, phase-change thermal compound, and a brand-new air intake and 90-blade fan system, the laptops stay cool even under heavy load – resulting in just 48 dB in power mode. Thanks to the integrated Lenovo LA AI chip, which dynamically optimizes thermal performance to maximize frame rate and minimize noise, the Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 can reach up to 140 W TDP.

The battery offers a capacity of a whopping 99.99 watt-hours and should thus be able to achieve a runtime of up to 10 hours. Charging is optional via 230 W slim adapter, which charges the notebooks to 100 percent in 80 minutes, or via USB-C with up to 140 watts. Thanks to the Filogic 380 Wi-Fi 7 card from MediaTek, even modern Wi-Fi 7 is already on board.

The full-size Lenovo Legion TrueStrike keyboard features a full numeric keypad, large arrow keys, and 1.5mm key travel. Of course, there is also Lenovo Legion Spectrum RGB lighting per key. Lenovo Legion Slim 7i and 7 are each only 17.99 mm thick (at the thinnest point) and weigh less than 2 kilograms.

Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and 5

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and 5 gaming notebooks also have a screen diagonal of 16 inches, but the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 also has a particularly compact 14-inch model with an OLED display.

The Lenovo Legion Slim 5i is available with up to a 13th generation Intel Core i7-13700H processor, while the Lenovo Legion Slim 5 is offered with up to an AMD Ryzen 9 7840HS processor. Both models are powered by NVIDIA’s RTX 4070.

Legion ColdFront 5.0 cooling is offered on the 5 models, as well as the LA1 AI chip that powers Lenovo’s AI Engine+ and controls heat generation to dynamically split wattage between the CPU and GPU. This even enables a TDP of 160 watts in the case of the Lenovo Legion Slim 5i.

In addition, there is up to 32 GB of DRDR5 RAM, which can be expanded up to 64 GB. However, GPUs with slightly less power are also available on request, which allows the case to be thinner. With a weight of 2.3 kilograms, the 16-inch Lenovo Legion Slim 5i and 5 models are namely no lightweights.

The display is a 16-inch WQXGA panel with 500 nits brightness and up to 240 Hz refresh rate. The up to 80 Wh battery offers up to 8 hours of battery life and supports Super Rapid Charge. Thanks to the USB-C port that supports 140W charging, the slim charger can easily be left at home for even more mobility.

Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 and Lenovo Legion R45w-30 Gaming Monitors

Those who want to run the notebooks at home, or are simply looking for a new gaming monitor, will also find what they are looking for in Lenovo’s new line-up. With the Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 and Lenovo Legion R45w-30, you can expect two new gaming monitors at once.

They bring with them the multitasking flexibility of PIP/PBP, KVM, as well as Lenovo’s True Split technology, which allows the display to be split into two discrete monitors with just one input cable, and even feature a 2.5G RJ45 LAN port.

The Lenovo Legion Y34wz-30 is a 34-inch ultrawide WQHD curved mini LED monitor that supports DisplayHDR 1000. With 125% sRGB, 95% DCI-P3 10bit color depth, and Delta E<2 color accuracy, it’s also great for creative work.

Offered (overclocked) is a refresh rate of 180 Hertz and an MPRT response time of 1 ms. Other devices, such as notebooks, can be charged with up to 140 watts via USB-C, and various sources can be connected via HDMI 2.1 or DisplayPort 1.4, for example.

The second in the bunch, the Lenovo Legion R45w-30, is even bigger and comes with a screen diagonal of 44.5 inches in a 32:9 aspect ratio. With an overclocked refresh rate of 170 Hz and an MPRT response time of 1 ms, it aims to excite gamers, while the color space coverage of 120 percent sRGB and 115 percent DCI-P3 display should also be palatable to creative workers. It achieves a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The Lenovo Legion R45w-30 supports USB-C Gen 2 with 75 W Smart Power, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4, and has a USB hub and audio outputs.
