Lenovo ThinkBook 13s Gen 4: Price-performance hit on the way

Lenovo presented its ThinkBook 13s Gen 4 at MWC 2022 in Barcelona. The company promises a lot of improvements with the fourth generation of the popular notebook. Especially the display and the performance are supposed to have changed a lot compared to the predecessors.

Three different displays to choose from

The previous generations already stood for a great value for money. Lenovo already managed to combine a high-quality aluminum chassis with a high screen quality and a long-lasting battery in the predecessor. According to the manufacturer, these virtues have been improved even more in the latest device. The fourth generation is said to have made a huge leap in the display technology in particular. The manufacturer now relies on a 16:10 aspect ratio for the screen, and there are different displays to choose from. The different options mainly differ in terms of resolution.

In the cheapest model, there is a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels. A brightness of 300 nits should also enable working in bright environments. The slightly better equipped model again offers a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. The top model does not increase the resolution, but the brightness and the feature set. It has 400 nits and a display with a touch function. Of course, a webcam should not be missing either. As is typical for the industry, it is located in the center above the display. Privacy fans will be happy about the built-in camera shutter. Herewith, the lens can be covered without further ado.

A lot of performance for the mid-range

Intel CPUs of the 12th generation provide computing power in the ThinkBook 13s Gen 4. They are supported by LPDDR5 RAM with a maximum of 32 GB. The installed NVME SSD is supposed to provide space for media, applications and documents. It has a maximum capacity of 1 TB. This results in a total package that should be more than sufficient for the vast majority of casual users.

Lenovo has installed a 56 Wh battery so that mobile work is not a problem. This is supposed to last for more than 11 hours. In terms of interfaces, the notebook offers two Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as a classic USB-A port. Furthermore, there is a 3.5 mm jack port as well as an HDMI output.

Price and availability

June 2022 is supposed to be the time. The ThinkBook 13s Gen 4 is supposed to hit the European market then. Considering the features, the stated MSRP of 749 Euros is really attractive. We are curious whether Lenovo can keep its promises for the mid-range device.
