Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i and P14s: mobile workstations with Nvidia graphics

Lenovo presented numerous innovations at the Mobile World Congress 2022. Among them are the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i and P14s models. As mobile workstations, both new editions rely on current, fast Intel CPUs and dedicated NVIDIA graphics.

Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i features

The updated Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i workstation is powered by 12th generation Intel Core processors, including a Core i7 with up to 14 cores. The Nvidia T550 GPU with a four gigabyte video memory is used as the graphics solution. Up to 48 gigabytes of DDR4 RAM and a PCIe Gen4 SSD with up to two terabytes are also supported.

The notebook weighs 1.73 kilograms and is offered with two different 16-inch displays. For example, there is a WQXGA display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels and a brightness of 400 cd/m², which covers the sRGB color space by 100 percent. Alternatively, a display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels including a touch function can be selected.

Other features include a fingerprint scanner and a wide range of ports: Two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one HDMI port, two USB Type 3.1 Gen 1 ports in Type A, Gigabit Ethernet and an optional SmartCard reader. Wirelessly, the Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i transmits via WiFi 6E, and a 5G mobile connection is optionally available as well.

Lenovo ThinkPad P14s in detail

In contrast, the Lenovo ThinkPad P14s turns out smaller and lighter, which – as the name already suggests – relies on a 14-inch display. It is also equipped with a current Intel Core processor with up to 14 cores and relies on an Nvidia T550 graphics card. The P14s shares the working memory and SSD with the P16s i.

Due to the more compact design, the P14s weighs only 1.39 kg. Two display options are also available here. A WQUXGA display with a resolution of 3,840 x 2,400 pixels and a brightness of 400 cd/m², which offers full DCI-P3 color space coverage, or a 2.2K display WUXGA. The choice of ports and connectivity is the same as in the case of the P16s i. Both models also feature a Full HD webcam and come with an optional Hybrid IR camera.

Prices and Availability

The Lenovo ThinkPad P16s i and P14s mobile workstations will start shipping in April 2022. The 14-inch model P14s in the 3rd generation starts at 1,529 Euros, while the ThinkPad P16s I will cost at least 1,549 Euros.
