Lenovo Yoga PCs: The novelties from CES 2022

Lenovo presented the first Yoga PCs at CES 10 years ago. At CES 2022, Lenovo now presented the now seventh generation of Yoga 2-in-1 notebooks. The new 14-inch flagship Lenovo Yoga 9i, the ultraportable Yoga 7i in 14 and 16 inches, and the eco-friendly 13-inch Yoga 6 model made from recycled materials. Three new Q-series monitors were also unveiled, the Lenovo Q27h-20, the Lenovo Q27q-20 and the Lenovo Q24i-20.

Lenovo Yoga 9i: The premium package

The new Yoga 9i convertible (14.7 inches) with Windows 11 and the optimized responsiveness of the 12th generation Intel Core i7-1260P processor combined with the Intel Iris Xe graphics card, is heavily equipped. It should excel at both streaming and browsing as well as photo and video editing.

The Yoga 9i follows the classic 2-in-1 concept and can be used as a notebook as well as a tablet. It offers an improved audio experience that even increases the volume factor compared to the previous generation. With the improved, rotating soundbar with four Bowers & Wilkins speakers, consisting of two woofers and two tweeters on the top and sides, movies and music should now sound even better.

Also on offer is an up to 4K OLED IPS touchscreen with slim bezels that is also VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certified for 100 percent DCI-P3 color accuracy and supports Dolby Vision HDR. It features a 16:10 aspect ratio for less scrolling and a 60 Hz refresh rate for everyday viewing. TUV Low Blue Light certification means it’s specially calibrated to reduce eye strain.

New features for easier use

The most important update to the Yoga 9i is perhaps the least obvious. To keep up with today’s busy, hybrid learning and working lives, this convertible also brings productivity innovations to the market, such as easier one-handed opening for convenient multitasking and an edge-to-edge keyboard layout that features a bar of new 1-click function keys with five additional shortcut keys.

These are marked with user-friendly icons for quick access to frequently used functions. For example, there’s a quick key for switching to Smart Power mode, which offers a choice of higher performance or longer battery life.

There is also a clever Background Blur feature that protects privacy from the surroundings with just one click when making video calls via Microsoft Teams or other collaboration platforms. To show a clear picture of yourself and your background again, just press the button again.

Other new features

With the Lenovo Vibe Check, there is now even a smart function button for changing the audio mode. It allows you to switch between music, gaming, or movie mode for a better sound effect without affecting the mood.

In addition to the Smart Sense lighting, which automatically adjusts the keyboard’s backlight to the ambient light, there’s the Color Mode button, which lets users easily switch between dark and light modes via Windows’ own color setting feature to see what works best.

The same button column also houses the fingerprint reader, which has been placed where the palm rest normally is for added convenience and to make the device look cleaner. In addition, the Yoga 9i has an FHD infrared (IR) camera with convenient Smart Login and electronic privacy shutter that can also detect a user’s presence and turn the device on or off.

There’s also a 45 percent larger touchpad on the Yoga 9i for more finger space, better click performance and accuracy, and more ports, including two Intel Thunderbolt 4 ports and enhanced Wi-Fi 6E for fast dedicated connections, among other features. Also in the box is a Precision Pen 2 with tilt detection, or an e-Color pen for those frequent writers who appreciate the feel of a real pen.

Lenovo Yoga 7i: Chic productivity talent

The Yoga 7i 2-in-1 notebook is a versatile and powerful device that comes in two sizes (14 inches and 16 inches) and offers everything your heart desires. The 14-inch Yoga 7i features a 2.8K OLED touchscreen display with 100 percent DCI-P3 color space for content creation and ultra-vivid image quality with Dolby Vision, as well as amazing sound thanks to Dolby Atmos.

Next-level performance from the 12th-generation Intel Core i7-1260P processor and Intel Iris Xe graphics deliver true hybrid computing power with long battery life from a 71-Wh battery and Rapid Charge Express. The 14-inch Yoga 7i is available in Storm Grey and the new quiet Stone Blue hue.

The 16-inch Yoga 7i is ideal for movie lovers, hobbyists, content creators or casual gamers who need a larger touchscreen for a more immersive PC experience. Users enjoy up to 2.5K LCD display with 60 Hz, 16:10 aspect ratio and 100 percent sRGB color space for optimized TUV Low Blue Light technology and Dolby Vision. The 16-inch Yoga 7i is available in Storm Grey and the new Arctic Grey hue.

The new Comfort Edge design for a sleek look in all modes, an optional active pen, and multiple ports including Thunderbolt 4, USB Type-A, and an HDMI/SD card reader round out the features.

Lenovo Yoga 6: With an eye on the environment

The 13.7-inch Lenovo Yoga 6 convertible is meant to be ahead of its time and also set new standards in terms of the environment. It was inspired by all the ways we make choices in our daily lives that affect the environment.

The new Dark Teal shade, for example, relies on recycled materials, including a cover made of recycled aluminum, or for a fabric-wrapped cover that is made of 50 percent recycled plastic and treated with a stain-resistant coating for more durability.

The power supply is made of thirty percent recycled plastic. The Yoga 6 is also free of mercury, arsenic, and brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and has ENERGY STAR and EPEAT Silver certifications for energy-saving and environmental compliance.

The Yoga 6’s battery is made of nearly 25 percent recycled plastic. Even the laptop’s packaging is the “greenest” Lenovo has ever offered for the Yoga, as it is made of sustainable paper from responsibly managed and FSC-certified forests. The protective padding inside the box is also made from 90 percent recycled plastic.

Designed for mobility and premium entertainment almost anywhere, the Yoga 6 features a 13-inch touchscreen with Full HD 16:10 ratio display for crisp image quality and Dolby Vision, plus dual front-facing speakers and Dolby Atmos for a powerful audio experience. There are also more I/O ports than the previous generation and the optional stylus is included in select markets.

Lenovo Q27h, Lenovo Q27q, Lenovo Q24i

The new Lenovo Q Series monitors combine high resolution, smart audio, a wide range of ports and a modern design. The premium 27-inch Lenovo Q27h-20 monitor features a sleek design and leading Eyesafe-certified technology to deliver naturally low blue light for better eye protection. Nearly bezel-less on all four sides, this display delivers an excellent user experience thanks to QHD IPS HDR capability for vivid color reproduction that is 95 percent DCI-P3, 99 percent sRGB and Delta E<2 accurate.

A single-cable USBC docking solution lets you charge devices up to 90W and/or expand the display to show content on multiple screens. It’s ideal for everyday use thanks to an integrated phone holder and smart speaker to reduce desk clutter. The asymmetrical metal arm adjusts to the perfect height for maximum comfort. The solid base in terrazzo gray provides stability and that extra bit of luxury.

Two other Q-series monitors for home users – the larger Lenovo Q27q-20 (27-inch) with QHD resolution and the Lenovo Q24i-20 (23.8-inch) with Full HD resolution – are also on offer and aim to score with a strong price-performance ratio. These sleek monitors, with their 7.1mm slim chassis and near bezel-less design on three sides, combine sophistication and comfort with an ergonomic stand, built-in natural low blue light technology for eye health, and powerful display features.
