Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon: Ultrabook with 12-core CPUs weighs less than 1 kg

The 14.8 mm slim Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon ultrabook, which the manufacturer has now introduced, weighs just 967 grams. Nevertheless, the compact model has a lot of power under the hood and relies on a QHD panel with 90 Hz and a 12-core CPU from Intel, among other things.

The low weight of the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is made possible by a case made from a composite of mangesium and carbon fiber. This realizes a weight of less than one kilogram (967 grams, to be exact).

The display also contributes to the compact form factor. Lenovo relies on a 13.3-inch IPS panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio and a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels. It has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and a brightness of 400 nits. The Slim 7i Carbon’s display is also available as a touchscreen for an additional charge.

The 2-watt stereo speakers are provided by the manufacturer Harman Kardon. Other features include an HD webcam (presumably with 720p resolution), as well as a second IR camera for Windows Hello login.

With a capacity of 50 watt hours, the size of the installed battery turns out to be manageable, but that might once again be due to the low weight. Nevertheless, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is supposed to last up to 10 hours.

Fast Intel Alder Lake P CPUs

In terms of the processor, the 7i Carbon relies on Intel Alder Lake-P processors. Specifically, you can choose between the Intel Core i5-1240P or Intel Core i7-1260P models, which each combine four performance with eight efficiency cores. Naturally, there is only one internal Intel Iris Xe graphics unit due to the design.

In return, the RAM configuration is large if desired. You can choose between 8 GB and up to 32 GB LPDDR5 working memory with a clock rate of 4200 MHz. The internal PCIe 4.0 SSD storage can be almost anywhere between 256 GB and a maximum of one terabyte.

Compromises also have to be made in terms of ports due to the thin case. Only two USB Type-C ports are available here, whereby one of the ports supports the fast Thunderbolt 4 standard.

Price and availability

The launch of Lenovo’s Yoga Slim 7i Carbon is scheduled for July 2022, when the compact ultrabook will hit German stores at an MSRP starting at 1,299.00 Euros.
