LG is consolidating its robotics and artificial intelligence activities into a new business unit and is forming a far-reaching alliance with Nvidia to this end. The focus is on the massive expansion of so-called Physical AI—that is, AI systems that interact directly with the real world through robotics.
New Robotics Business Center Consolidates All Processes
On July 1, 2026, LG established the new Robotics Business Center in Seoul. For the first time, the unit brings together development, sales, and manufacturing in the robotics sector under one roof. For the further development of home robots, LG is relying on the Nvidia frameworks Isaac Sim and Isaac Lab, which allow new devices to be tested in virtual environments before real-world deployment. This is complemented by the Nvidia Isaac GR00T model, which is designed to enable robots to think and act in ways more similar to humans. In the industrial and commercial sectors, LG is also integrating the expertise of its subsidiaries Robostar and Bear Robotics more closely under the “One LG Solution” strategy.
Large AI Data Factory as the Centerpiece
As a central element of the collaboration, a large AI data factory is set to be established in Seoul later this year. Both real-world operational data and synthetic training data will be generated there, the latter using Nvidia Cosmos models. This data will feed directly into LG’s own Robot Foundation Model to specifically prepare future generations of robots for real-world tasks—an approach that Nvidia is also increasingly promoting beyond robotics, such as in local AI workflows in systems like the ASUS ProArt PCs with RTX Spark.
Data Centers and Mobility Also Affected
The collaboration extends beyond robotics: LG and Nvidia are jointly developing liquid-cooled, modular AI factories based on the Nvidia DSX standard. LG Uplus is contributing new large-scale data centers, while LG Energy Solution is providing suitable power solutions. In the automotive sector, both companies are also working on driver-assistance systems and autonomous driving features based on the Nvidia Drive platform.
With this wide-ranging deal, LG is positioning itself as one of the key partners for Nvidia’s Physical AI strategy and aims to play a significantly larger role in both the consumer and industrial segments in the future.
