LG at IFA 2026: Dates and Theme
From September 4 to 8, 2026, LG will showcase its latest home entertainment portfolio, along with new products in the home appliances and IT sectors, in Hall 18 at Messe Berlin. With its TV lineup, LG’s stated goal is to position smart screens as personal entertainment platforms rather than mere playback devices. Anyone looking to learn more this fall about picture quality, AI functions, and security features of modern TVs will find a good overview of the entire 2026 lineup at the LG booth.
Wallpaper TV W6: LG’s Flagship Model Gets Even Thinner
The LG OLED evo W6 is the real star of the trade show, even though this isn’t the first time it’s been on display. LG had already unveiled the TV in January at CES 2026 and showcased it in detail at its own LG Convention in Frankfurt. At IFA, the model is now being presented to its Berlin audience.
Technically, the W6 remains a statement piece: The panel measures just 9 mm thick; picture and sound are delivered completely wirelessly via a so-called Zero Connect Box, which can be placed up to ten meters away from the TV and, according to LG, transmits signals “visually lossless” in 4K. Additional features include a redesigned wall mount for flush installation, Hyper Radiant Color Technology for rich colors even at high brightness levels, and a Brightness Booster Ultra, which is said to be up to 3.9 times brighter than a traditional OLED panel. For living rooms with reflective surfaces, the TV also carries Intertek’s Reflection-Free Premium certification.
Under the model name LG Gallery TV, the W6 has been available in Germany since July 2026 in 77- and 83-inch sizes, with prices starting at around 3,999 euros for the 77-inch model. The IFA is therefore less of an announcement event and more of an on-site showcase, featuring 165-Hz gaming in 4K and smart home connectivity via Matter and AirPlay 2.
Micro RGB evo: LG Responds to Samsung’s Giant Screens
In addition to the OLED evo lineup, LG is also bringing its Micro RGB evo TVs to IFA—featuring ultra-large screen sizes designed for living rooms where size is a status symbol. Instead of traditional white LED backlighting with color filters, the technology relies on individually controllable Micro RGB LEDs, which are said to enable a wider color gamut and higher peak brightness. Samsung had already taken a similar approach with the 130-inch R95H model at CES 2026, and LG is now following suit with its own Micro RGB series.
α11 AI Processor Gen3: More Computing Power for Picture and Sound
At the heart of all new models is the α11 AI Processor Gen3. LG claims the NPU—the processing unit responsible for AI calculations—delivers a 5.6-fold performance increase compared to the 2025 chip. The following table shows exactly what the processor delivers in everyday use:
| Function | Description |
|---|---|
| NPU Performance | 5.6-fold increase compared to the 2025 α9 processor |
| AI Dual 4K Upscaling | Two parallel AI engines upscale low-resolution content to 4K |
| AI Sound Pro | Virtual 11.1.2-channel sound through the TV speakers |
| Operating System | webOS 26 |
LG recently demonstrated that this computing power makes a difference beyond mere benchmark numbers with the new Creator Original Picture Mode, which specifically renders streaming content exactly as the respective director or cinematographer intended.
AI in Everyday Life: Voice ID, Chatbot, and Concierge
Based on webOS 26, LG has bundled three features designed to tailor the TV more closely to individual users:
- Voice ID recognizes users by their voice and adjusts recommendations accordingly—a handy feature for a TV shared among household members.
- AI Chatbot answers natural-language questions about picture settings—for example, if someone simply asks why the picture looks too dark, instead of having to click through the menu.
- AI Concierge analyzes past viewing habits and uses that data to suggest new content.
LG Shield: Security as the Second Major Focus
In addition to picture quality, LG is also emphasizing the security of its smart TVs this year. According to the manufacturer, LG Shield combines seven different protection mechanisms against data leaks and unauthorized access and has already been nominated for an Innovation Award in the Cybersecurity category at CES 2026. Buyers of the 2026 models also receive up to five years of free webOS updates—a benefit that isn’t a given, considering the update practices of some competitors.
Overview: The frame is the main new feature
Anyone who followed the LG Convention in the spring or CES 2026 will find few technical surprises at IFA: the Wallpaper TV W6, Micro RGB evo, and the α11 AI Processor Gen3 are already familiar—some have even been on the market for months. What’s new is the lineup itself, as IFA is the first opportunity for many German shoppers to see the entire 2026 OLED evo lineup in person and compare them side-by-side, rather than just seeing them in press photos. Anyone interested in a model from the series can see for themselves from September 4 through 8 before deciding on one of the TVs already available.
