LG is giving its free streaming service LG Channels a comprehensive update that noticeably modernizes both the look and feel. In addition to a new logo, LG is introducing a refined user interface that makes content easier to find and is more closely aligned with individual user behavior. Thanks to AI-supported recommendations and new convenience functions such as quick access and regionally tailored features, the service is clearly positioned as a central hub for linear and curated content on LG Smart TVs.
- New, sleek logo with global brand identity and focus on accessibility
- Refined user interface with more efficient navigation and faster access to channels and recommendations
- AI-supported personalization with individual content suggestions and regionally adapted functions
- “Quick access” to channel details, TV guide, favorites and popular content directly from the current program.
New design and revised interface
With the latest update, LG Channels is positioning itself more clearly as a global FAST service (Free Ad-Supported Streaming TV) with a clear, recognizable brand identity. The new logo is based on a reduced, universal design that emphasizes the user-friendliness and global claim of the platform and strengthens the connection to the LG brand family. At the same time, the user interface has been visually streamlined and functionally realigned to guide users more quickly to relevant content. Content, recommendations and channels are more in focus, while cluttered menus are reduced and interaction via the LG Magic Remote is more intuitive.

LG Channels has been available since 2015 and has developed into a global offering in 33 countries, each with localized language and regional content. Over 4,000 channels, which are provided together with major content partners, are available free of charge and can be controlled via the webOS home screen or directly via Magic Remote. The UI redesign builds on this established basis and is similar in structure to modern streaming hubs: live channels, recommended programs and thematic series are presented in a clearly structured manner. The aim is to mediate between the classic linear TV experience and on-demand-like guidance without overwhelming the user with options.
AI personalization and quick access in detail
The core of the update is a significantly refined personalization based on AI algorithms that evaluates individual viewing behavior. LG Channels derives personalized recommendations from the preferred genres, times of day and channels used, which are displayed prominently in the home screen and in special recommendation rows. This is designed to make relevant content stand out more quickly without having to scroll through the EPG for a long time. At the same time, classic control elements such as the TV guide are retained, but are more closely linked to the suggestions of the recommendation systems.

A central new feature is the “quick access function”, which can be used to display further information and alternatives during a running program. One press of the OK button on the LG Magic Remote is all it takes to display channel details, the electronic program guide, your own favourites and a list of popular content in the overlay. This allows users to browse, change channels or manage favorites in parallel to the current program without having to switch completely to a separate menu. This reduces context switching and makes channel surfing more efficient, which should make a noticeable difference in everyday use, especially with large channel packages with thousands of channels.
Regional features and global expansion
Personalization goes beyond individual recommendations and also includes regional viewing habits, languages and technical requirements. For Europe, a multi-audio function is highlighted, which allows preferred language versions to be selected quickly, which is particularly relevant for international series and sports broadcasts. In markets with right-to-left writing, such as parts of the Middle East, the interface has been adapted accordingly to improve readability and orientation. This regional fine-tuning fits in with LG’s strategy of not only providing a globally consistent user experience, but also a locally tailored one.
In parallel, LG continues to drive the geographic expansion of the service. Building on an already strong presence in North and South America, Europe and Asia, LG Channels is set to expand into additional markets such as the United Arab Emirates, Poland and Taiwan. The platform relies on partnerships with major studios and rights holders to cover regionally relevant formats and niche genres in addition to linear FAST Channels. The FAST model is attractive for producers and content partners as it is ad-financed and can reach a broad user base without a subscription hurdle.
Outlook, price and availability
With a new logo, refined user interface and enhanced AI personalization, LG Channels is sharpening its profile as a one-stop shop for free streaming content on LG Smart TVs. The combination of intuitive navigation, quick access and regionally tailored features addresses typical weaknesses of classic TV guides and FAST offers and could further increase the frequency of use. LG Channels remains free and ad-financed; a separate subscription or additional fees are not planned for use on compatible LG Smart TVs. The update will be rolled out gradually in the supported markets, specific schedules may vary depending on region and TV model, but are expected to be completed this year.
