LG gram 2026: New models with Aerominum and Dual AI presented at the LG Convention

At the LG Convention in Frankfurt, LG Electronics presented the new generation of its ultra-light LG-gram laptops. The line-up for 2026 continues to focus on maximum mobility, but combines this with a new housing material called Aerominum for the first time. In addition, the devices integrate a hybrid AI architecture and improved connectivity to other LG devices. LG is thus positioning the new series as a powerful, flexible solution for mobile working, gaming-related applications and productive workflows.

  • New Aerominum housing ensures low weight and greater stability at the same time
  • Dual AI system with Microsoft Copilot+ and local gram chat on-device AI
  • gram Link connects devices across platforms with smartphones, TVs and monitors
  • New models: gram Pro 16, gram Pro 17 and gram Pro 2-in-1

LG gram 2026: New Aerominum material improves mobility and robustness

A key highlight of the new LG gram generation is the Aerominum material used for the first time. This is a material composition developed by LG for the housing design of the devices. The aim is to achieve an optimized balance between weight, stability and durability.

Ultra-light notebooks are often considered to be particularly fragile. With Aerominum, LG is attempting to solve precisely this problem. The material reduces the weight of the devices while at the same time increasing the structural strength of the housing. As a result, the laptops should be better protected against scratches and the stresses of everyday mobile use.

This approach is particularly important for users who frequently work on the move or transport their notebook on a daily basis. Despite the more robust design, the LG-gram series remains true to its core idea: devices that are as light as possible with a large screen area.

LG has also opted for a minimalist design. Various color variants of the Aerominum housing were shown at the trade fair. A black version will initially be available at the market launch in Germany. Other color options could follow later.

In addition to the material innovation, the display quality also remains an important part of the series. For the gram Pro 16 in particular, LG has opted for a high-resolution WQXGA+ OLED panel with a resolution of 2,880 × 1,800 pixels, which delivers razor-sharp content and vibrant colors.

Dual AI and gram Link: Focus on AI features and device networking

In addition to hardware improvements, LG is also significantly expanding the software functions of the new models. The devices use a hybrid AI architecture that combines both local and cloud-based calculations.

On the one hand, the laptops support Microsoft Copilot+, which allows AI-supported functions to be integrated directly into the operating system. At the same time, LG uses its own local AI solution called gram chat On-Device AI. This is based on the EXAONE 3.5 sLLM small language model and runs directly on the device.

The advantage: many tasks can be performed locally without sending data to external servers. This improves data protection and enables AI functions even without an internet connection. For more complex tasks, however, the system uses cloud resources.

Another focus is on extended device networking. The gram Link software serves as a central interface between different platforms. This allows users to share content and workflows across multiple devices.

Supported devices include:

  • Smartphones
  • LG monitors
  • LG televisions with webOS

For example, files can be transferred between a laptop and smartphone or the laptop screen can be displayed directly on a large TV. This opens up additional usage scenarios, especially in the home office or streaming environment.

The portfolio of the new generation includes several variants for different requirements. These include

Model Display Special features
gram Pro 16 (16Z90U) 16 inch OLED high resolution, mobile working
gram Pro 17 (17Z90UR) 17 inch large work surface
gram Pro 2-in-1 (16T95TP) 16 inch Convertible design

LG also offers special B2B versions of the gram Pro series for corporate use.

Conclusion

With the new LG gram generation, LG is expanding its ultra-light notebook series with several technical innovations. The new Aerominum chassis is designed to improve stability and mobility, while dual AI functions and gram Link are aimed more at networked workflows. The gram Pro 16, gram Pro 17 and gram Pro 2-in-1 models cover different application scenarios. According to LG, the new devices will be available in Germany from June 2026. Official prices have not yet been announced.
