Lidl Smart Home devices switch to Homematic IP

Lidl also offers various smart home devices under its own SilverCrest brand. Until now, the company’s own SilverCrest app has been used here. However, this will henceforth be replaced by the Homematic IP app, which will be switched off on July 01, 2023.

Lidl Smart Home devices: Change to Homematic IP app necessary

Lidl offers various smart home devices such as radiator thermostats or window and door contacts under its own brand SilverCrest. These were previously controlled via a separate SilverCrest app.

“The SilverCrest Smarthome APP will no longer be further developed from the end of November 2022,” informs the company on the own homepage. The app will no longer be available from 01 July 2023 at the latest. Instead, all customers are to switch to the Homematic IP app.

“We would like to ask you to install the functionally identical APP “Homematic IP” to continue to benefit from updates and continue to use the system,” it continues.

It is not necessary to reinstall the systems or set them up again in the process, he said. One would only have to follow the instructions within the app and rescan the access point, as well as confirm the whole thing by pressing a button. All data, information and settings are then available in the new app.

The Homematic IP app is available for free download on Android and iOS and can be downloaded now. It’s better to switch early than too late, before you can no longer access the previous app from July 2023.

And in case something should not work: Lidl, like many other supermarkets, has committed to taking back defective electrical appliances.
