Peripheral manufacturer Logitech G and tech giant Tencent are teaming up to create a handheld gaming device that will be released in 2022 and will compete with Valve’s Steam Deck. With a focus on cloud gaming.
Logitech G Gaming Hand is coming
In a brief press release, Logitech G and Tencent Games announced their collaboration. Together, they plan to launch a gaming handheld before the end of this year. It will benefit from the hardware expertise of the peripheral manufacturer and Tencent’s experience in the software sector.
The handheld will primarily focus on cloud gaming services, several of which will be supported. Xbox Cloud Gaming and NVIDIA GeForce NOW are mentioned as examples, so that“gamers can play AAA games when they are not at their console or PC”.
Together, they share the same vision of the future of gaming and are committed to providing a high-quality experience, he said.

Logitech G Gaming Handheld: Tech details to follow
However, concrete technical details have not been named so far. But since the gaming handheld is focused solely on cloud gaming, it doesn’t need to have similarly powerful hardware to that used in the Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, or the recently unveiled AOKZOE A1, for example.
“No PC or console games need to be downloaded or installed. Instead, titles are computed and played on remote servers while users interact with them locally on their devices,” Logitech and Tencent further write.
Also how the business model will look, is currently still in the stars. If the focus is solely on the subscription services from Microsoft or Nvidia, the costs for the pure hardware are correspondingly much lower.
Logitech G and Tencent Games want to announce concrete details about the gaming handheld in the course of the year. You can sign up for an e-mail newsletter on the corresponding product website, but there is not much more to see about the Logitech G gaming handheld at the moment.
