Logitech G ASTRO A30: Wireless gaming headset with broad compatibility

The premium audio brand ASTRO Gaming has been part of Logitech for years, but has been active independently until now. That seems to have changed now, because the new headset of the audio professionals comes under the name Logitech G ASTRO A30 and presents itself as a flexible wireless gaming headset with extensive compatibility.

The Logitech G ASTRO A30 in detail

Gaming headsets from ASTRO Gaming have already enjoyed enormous popularity for years thanks to their excellent sound characteristics and high wearing comfort. Thus, the A20 Wireless could completely inspire us in the test last year.

The Logitech G ASTRO A30 is a new wireless gaming headset. It relies on a powerful 40mm audio driver, a detachable boom microphone and Logitech’s advanced LIGHTSPEED technology.

It connects to smartphones and tablets (on iOS and Android) via Bluetooth, which makes it great for mobile gaming, as well as to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC via the 2.4 GHz receiver.

As part of the Logi Play event, the manufacturer has now presented the new wireless gaming headset to the public.

Hi-Fi sound meets long battery life

The specially tuned 40 mm drivers in the new Logitech G ASTRO A30 are supposed to realize a high-quality high-fidelity sound. Covering a frequency range of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz at an impedance of 32 ohms, it does so at a sound pressure level of 105 dB SPL/mW at 1 KHz.

Wirelessly, the gaming headset reaches a range of up to 15 meters, which sounds impressive, at least on paper. A high-quality, detachable boom microphone is also offered.

However, the manufacturer installs a second microphone directly into the headset, which is also supposed to enable clear communication. This is especially convenient when you want to use the A30 wirelessly and on the go with your smartphone – after all, it should also be good for listening to music.

Beyond that, the manufacturer promises an average battery life of over 27 hours with virtually latency-free transmission. Charging is via USB Type-C, while it can also be used wired via 3.5 mm jack.

Dual audio mixing is also offered, allowing the A30 gaming headset to wirelessly connect to multiple devices simultaneously and mix accordingly. You can then easily switch between them via a switch on the ear cup.

Wearability and Speaker Tags

The Logitech G ASTRO A30 naturally relies on the customizable speaker tags that have always distinguished the manufacturer’s headsets. You can choose from a variety of designs here, while you can also design your very own covers via the manufacturer’s website.

A particularly high wearing comfort is also promised by especially soft memory foam padding on the ear cups and in the headband. With the help of the Logitech G mobile app for iOS and Android, you can also have even more influence on the sound and control audio mixing, as well as fine-tune the equalizer.

Price and Availability

The Logitech G ASTRO A30 wireless gaming headset is expected to make its way to retail stores in October 2022, with an MSRP of $249.00. For more details, check out the official product website.
