The newly unveiled Logitech Pen focuses on a rugged design and is primarily aimed at users who use a Chromebook with USI standard.
Logitech Pen officially unveiled
Logitech has unveiled a new stylus. Unlike the company’s Crayon, which is aimed primarily at iPad users, the Logitech Pen is designed specifically for Chromebooks that support the Universal Stylus Initiative (USI) standard. This enables use without a troublesome pairing process.
The new pen is charged via a USB-C port on the top of the pen. According to the manufacturer, around 15 school days of runtime are possible with one charge. This is calculated on the basis of a usage time of around 2.5 hours per day with the sleep-and-wake function activated.
However, 30 seconds on the mains should be enough for the Logitech Pen to supply energy for 30 minutes of use. The stylus recognizes the pressure in 4,096 levels, but the entry-level model does not have dedicated buttons or other features.
Thanks to a certification according to the military standard MIL-STD-810G, the pen is particularly robust. Even drops from a height of 1.2 meters should not harm the pen. The pen is also protected against water splashes.
Price and availability
The Logitech Pen is aimed primarily at educational institutions, which is why it will not initially be offered in free trade. It will initially launch in the US, as well as in unspecified “other markets” at an MSRP of $64.99.
