Lucid Motors: Another electric car recall

Another recall at carmaker Lucid Motors in the USA. The electric car Lucid Air, which also comes to Germany, is affected. And this is not the first time. This time, the vehicles are being ordered back to the workshop due to faulty wiring.

Lucid Motors: Second Lucid Air recall

Due to faults in the wiring of the displays, the Lucid Air from automaker Lucid Motors must go back to the workshop. That’s according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in a recall.

This is already the second recall of the Lucid Air. Already in February of this year, the e-car had to go back to the workshop. Here it came to problems with a small ring inside the wheel suspension. Quite inconvenient when this causes speedometers and other important displays to fail. According to NHTSA, around 1,117 Lucid Air 2022 vehicles are affected. Significantly more than in the case of the first recall.

Lucid itself is “not aware of any instances where the vehicles’ instruments have failed or there has been an interruption in the instrument display,” the company tells The Verge when asked.

The Lucid Air is an electric sedan designed to compete directly against Tesla Model S or Mercedes EQS. The car comes with a range of up to 830 km, depending on the model, and will also be offered as a particularly powerful Dream Edition with 1,111 hp. At the end of 2022, the cars are also to be delivered in Europe. According to current rumors, at least 218,000 euros will be due.
