MacBook Air quality problems with the new 2022 notebook with M2 chip, which the company only introduced in June. Apparently, only the laptop in the Midnight Blue color is affected, with problems with the paint job.
MacBook Air quality issues with Midnight Blue color
For the first time, UK tech blogger Daniel Rotar of Zone of Tech reports via Twitter on the MacBook Air quality issues with the new 2022 model, which just made its way into stores a few days ago.
He expresses his liking for the new Midnight Blue color, but the paint around the USB-C port is apparently chipping off surprisingly quickly. According to his own statement, the port of Rotar’s notebook already shows a chipped paint after the first use, revealing the silver aluminum underneath.
This is not uncommon during intensive use, but the paint should be chipped so quickly and so clearly. YouTuber Marques Brownlee also reports similar problems in his review of the MacBook Air 2022 with M2 chip.
As a solution, he suggests either not choosing the midnight blue finish, protecting the ports or notebook with a case, or just taking really good care of your new notebook.
The MacBook Air 2022 has been on sale for a few days now, starting at a price of 1,499 Euros. It uses a Liquid Retina display with LED backlighting and IPS technology, which has a resolution of 2,560 x 1,664 pixels at 224 ppi and 500 nits brightness.
It charges magnetically using a Magsafe cable, while two USB-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 and a 3.5 mm jack are available.
An Air problem?
The new Air notebook isn’t the first Apple device from the 2022 model year to suffer from quality issues, however. Most recently, the iPad Air 2022 was affected by inferior workmanship, which caused frustration among buyers on social networks, who loudly called it “very cheap” and inferior.
Users reported an unsightly creaking of the back, which was also so thin that you could feel the battery underneath.
