Magic 2 LAN DINrail: devolo launches starter kit on the market

devolo has presented a starter kit of its Magic 2 LAN DINrail. The DINrail module ensures that the Internet signal is fed into the power grid directly at the fuse box. This means that all power lines in the house serve as Internet lines – which significantly increases Internet speed.

From the power line to the network cable

In many homes, the problem is that although the router promises enormous bandwidth and the Internet connection is definitely designed for it, hardly anything reaches the living rooms. This is due to the fact that a large part of the signal is lost along the way. devolo wants to solve this problem with its DINrail module. This is connected directly to the fuse box and ensures that the Internet signal is fed directly into the power lines at the connection point. This should effectively prevent signal loss. With the previous adapters and mesh kits from devolo, this was not possible in this form.

The power lines then act as network cables. The signal can be taken from any power outlet. For this, the Magic 2 WiFi 6 adapter only has to be plugged into the respective socket. Two Gigabit LAN ports and WLAN 6 are available. However, the socket is not lost, since the adapter has an integrated socket with a mains filter for all conceivable electrical devices.

devolo uses the latest G.hn powerline transmission technology for all adapters. It is supposed to ensure particularly good transmission rates with the best possible security.

Professional installation required

The biggest disadvantage of the system is that it cannot be installed independently. This requires the help of a professional, as the DINrail module must be connected directly in the fuse box to all three phases of the circuit, which is a demanding task that requires expertise. The router is also connected directly to the fuse box. Anyone thinking about purchasing the starter kit must therefore factor in the installation costs, which are added to the purchase price. The adapters, on the other hand, can be attached independently. They only need to be plugged into a power outlet and do not require any further installation effort. A total of eight adapters can be used simultaneously.

Price and availability

The starter kit includes an adapter in addition to the DINrail module. It is available immediately for 369.90 euros. devolo provides a warranty of three years.
