MailChimp: Automated mail platform acquired for $12 billion

The automated mailing platform MailChimp enjoys enormous popularity, especially among business customers. With it, personalized email campaigns, for example for newsletters, can be created completely according to one’s own needs and used free of charge for up to 2,000 email recipients. Now the company is changing hands for $12 billion.

MailChimp goes to Intuit

The Californian publisher Intuit has taken over the marketing platform MailChimp and officially let itself cost the mail platform a whole 12 billion US dollars. With this, the company wants to expand its offering for SMEs.

Intuit is primarily known as the publisher of several financial software products. Thanks to the acquisition of MailChimp, it wants to expand its offering for SMBs to be able to combine MailChimp’s data for marketing and customer relations with the purchase data of its accounting software Quickbooks. The transaction and acquisition is expected to be fully completed by mid-2022.

MailChimp was founded back in 2001 in Atlanta, Georgia, and is now one of the most important automated mail platforms around. Today, more than 13 million users worldwide already use the service, around 800,000 of whom also pay to extend the reach of email templates to over 2,000 recipients.

The free account allows a maximum of 12,000 emails per month to be sent to up to 2,000 recipients. A simple analysis function is also offered with the free model. Paid accounts offer significantly more services and cost at least $10 per month. In addition to personalized mail campaigns, MailChimp can also be used to create extensive social ads, landing pages, postcards and more.
